Fourth annual list recognizes groundbreaking advancements in technology
FORT SMITH, Ark.: ArcBest® (Nasdaq: ARCB), a leader in supply chain logistics, announced today that it has been named to Fast Company’s annual Next Big Things in Tech list. Now in its fourth year, the influential list honors emerging technology spanning a variety of industries for their profound impact on consumers, businesses and society in general.
This year, Fast Company recognizes 138 technologies in 28 categories for their potential to revolutionize the way we work and live. ArcBest’s Vaux Smart Autonomy is highlighted in the General Excellence category for “helping robots and humans safely work side by side.”
Vaux Smart Autonomy combines autonomous mobile robot (AMR) forklifts and reach trucks, intelligent software and remote teleoperation capabilities to autonomously handle materials movement – all while keeping humans in the loop. Vaux forklifts and reach trucks are equipped with advanced perception software, sensors and cameras that help the vehicles safely navigate warehouses, distribution centers and other industrial facilities. With a 3D, 360-degree view, the AMRs can see their environment as humans do to avoid each other or the people and structures around them. Learn more about the full Vaux technology suite here.
“Our customer-obsessed mindset drives us to continuously innovate, developing leading-edge solutions like Vaux to keep supply chains moving safely and efficiently,” said Dennis Anderson, chief strategy officer at ArcBest. “It’s an honor to be recognized by Fast Company, and I’m excited for what’s to come from our team of creative problem solvers and all of the game-changers on this year’s Next Big Things in Tech list.”
“The Next Big Things in Tech provides a fascinating glimpse at near- and long-term technological breakthroughs across a variety of sectors,” said Brendan Vaughan, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “Spanning everything from semiconductors to agricultural gene editing, the companies featured in this year’s list are tackling some of the world’s most pressing and vexing problems.”
