Free mentorship program from Athlete Tech Group delivers the tools to succeed in the $250 billion creator economy
TORONTO: Calling all Black creatives, content creators, and digital storytellers! Athlete Tech Group is proud to announce the launch of the Black Creator Academy – a first-of-its-kind bootcamp that equips Black youth with the skills and tools needed to thrive in the booming $250 billion creator economy.
As part of Ontario’s Black Youth Action Plan, the Black Creator Academy addresses the underrepresentation of Black talent in the content creation sector by providing Black youth in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), aged 15-24, with free access to mentorship, training, and funding opportunities. The program runs from January to March 2025, and select participants will be eligible for a $10,000 grant upon successful completion.
“The Black Creator Academy is about empowerment and creating pathways to success for Black youth in one of the fastest-growing industries,” said Randy Osei, Founder of Athlete Tech Group. “We’ve seen tremendous success through our Rising Star program, proving what’s possible when youth are given opportunities, and we’re excited to build on that momentum with this new initiative.”
Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn directly from top content creators, influencers, and industry leaders across sports, business, and entertainment, including:
The Black Creator Academy builds on the success of Athlete Tech Group’s acclaimed Rising Star program, which has already guided over 75 Ontario-based students onto rewarding career paths in technology and has awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships.
“The creator economy is not just about content—it's about innovation, business, and the future of work,” said Tresor Gray, Influencer and Content Creator. “This program ensures Black youth have the tools, skills, and networks to thrive.”
Applications for the Black Creator Academy are now open. Interested youth can apply online at:
