Backed by Intel Capital, the newly independent company will scale its AI-powered vision technology with NVIDIA integration to drive the next era of humanoids and autonomous mobile robots

SAN FRANCISCO: RealSense, a pioneer in AI-powered computer vision, has announced two major milestones: its spinout from Intel Corporation, fueled with a $50 million Series A funding round, and a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA to accelerate the adoption of physical AI across humanoids and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).

“This collaboration cements RealSense’s role as the perception platform of choice for AMRs and humanoids,” said Nadav Orbach, CEO of RealSense. “Our independence from Intel and support from top investors give us the agility to innovate, while our work with NVIDIA accelerates the mainstream adoption of physical AI.”

The New Era Begins

Backed by a leading semiconductor private equity firm, along with strategic and private investors, including Intel Capital and MediaTek Innovation Fund, RealSense now operates as an independent, venture-backed company focused on advancing innovation in AI, robotics, biometrics and computer vision. The new capital will fuel RealSense’s expansion into adjacent and emerging markets and scale its manufacturing, sales and go-to-market presence globally.

RealSense is collaborating with NVIDIA to integrate its industry-leading depth cameras with NVIDIA’s breakthrough robotics platforms, including the Jetson Thor supercomputer for humanoids, NVIDIA Isaac Sim for digital twins to rapidly close the gap from prototype to production and NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge for ultra-low-latency IoT sensor streaming.

By combining RealSense’s advanced perception technology with NVIDIA’s unmatched AI compute, the collaboration will enable robotics developers to shorten time to market, discover new applications and scale safely into production. Native integration ensures optimal perception performance, delivering the high-fidelity sensor data and processing speed required to power next-generation humanoids and autonomous machines.

A Leadership Role in Robotics Applications

With a global customer base of more than 3,000 and over 80 patents, RealSense brings to market proven industry traction across robotics, industrial automation, security, healthcare and “tech for good” initiatives, including partnerships with companies like ANYbotics, Eyesynth, FIT:match and Mobile Industrial Robots (MIR).

RealSense will continue to support its existing customer base and product roadmap, including the acclaimed RealSense depth cameras, embedded in 60% of the world’s AMRs and 80% of humanoid robots, an incredibly fast-growing segment. Its recently launched D555 depth camera, powered by the RealSense Vision SoC V5 and featuring Power over Ethernet (PoE), demonstrates the company’s ongoing leadership in embedded vision technology and edge AI capabilities.

“Our mission is to enable the world to integrate robotics and AI in everyday life safely,” said Orbach. “We’re building systems that remove danger and drudgery from human work, amplifying human potential with intelligent, secure and reliable vision systems. With fresh investment, seasoned leadership and our collaboration with NVIDIA, RealSense is shaping the future of intelligent machines.”

The spinout and NVIDIA collaboration comes at a moment of rapid global growth in robotics and biometrics. The robotics market is projected to quadruple, from $50 billion today to over $200 billion within six years, while demand for humanoid robots is expected to grow at a CAGR above 40%. At the same time, facial biometrics are becoming increasingly accepted in everyday applications, from airport screening to event entry.
