WILDOMAR, Calif.: #BackupSolutions--Actiphy Inc., a leading provider of backup, disaster recovery, and virtualization software, today announced the release of a new version of ActiveImage Protector 2022, now featuring support for Linux KVM virtualization technology.

Linux KVM has become a widely adopted open-source virtualization platform, offering exceptional flexibility, performance, and stability through its integration with the Linux kernel. With this release, ActiveImage Protector 2022 introduces agentless backup and recovery for Linux KVM virtual machines, extending Actiphy’s robust protection to yet another central virtualization platform.

By adding KVM support to its HyperBack™ and HyperRecovery™ technologies, Actiphy now covers most major virtualization environments - including Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware vSphere, and Linux KVM - eliminating the need to install backup agents on individual virtual machines. This enhancement simplifies deployment, reduces system overhead, and improves guest OS compatibility, offering administrators a more efficient and streamlined data protection solution.

NEW FEATURES IN ACTIVEIMAGE PROTECTOR

  • Agentless Backup (HyperBack) for Linux KVM
Perform image-based backups of virtual machines on Linux KVM, Microsoft Hyper-V, and VMware vSphere without installing agents inside each VM or special software on the host.
  • Agentless Recovery (HyperRecovery) for Linux KVM
Restore backup images directly to new or existing Linux KVM virtual machines, accelerating recovery and minimizing downtime.
  • Support for Seagate Lyve Cloud
Backups can now be stored directly to Seagate Lyve Cloud, adding another flexible and secure off-site storage option.

KEY FEATURES OF ACTIVEIMAGE PROTECTOR

  • Comprehensive System Protection
Back up entire servers-including operating systems, configurations, applications, and data-in a single image file for fast, full-system recovery.
  • Flexible Backup Options
The system supports file/folder backup and recovery, as well as incremental backups for optimized storage efficiency.
  • Ransomware-Resilient Backup Protection (ImageIsolate™)
Protect backup image files from ransomware and malware by automatically disconnecting backup storage devices from the network after backup completion.
  • Distributed Backup Storage and Offsite Replication
Schedule replication tasks to securely copy backup image files to remote locations, enhancing data security and availability.
  • Broad Cloud Storage Compatibility
This system supports S3-compatible object storage and Microsoft Azure Storage for hybrid and cloud environments.
  • Inline Data Deduplication Compression (IDDC)
Reduce storage requirements by eliminating duplicate data while compressing it simultaneously.
  • Cross-Environment Compatibility
Maintain consistent functionality across on-premises, virtual, and cloud infrastructures.
  • System Migration and Disaster Recovery
Migrate from legacy systems to new hardware or virtual environments (P2V, V2V, V2C) and ensure business continuity through rapid disaster recovery.
