It is Boston Scientific, the global giant in biomedical technology, the first adopter of Vodafone Business' remote proctoring solution built with software from Italian startup Artiness, designed to visualize 3D models of patients' hearts and their health data, and interact with them thanks to augmented reality and 5G technology.

Vodafone Business' remote proctoring solution is a platform based on 5G software and connectivity that allows medical data from mapping systems in the cardiovascular field to be processed, processed and visualized. Data and images are processed into 3D models usable for holographic visualization in augmented reality environment and in shared mode to create a collaborative session of different users through the use of HoloLens 2.0 visors for Mixed Reality.

The software was developed by Artiness, the innovative startup founded in 2018 by researchers and professors from the Department of Bioengineering at the Politecnico di Milano and winner of Vodafone's second "Action for 5G" call dedicated to startups, SMEs and social enterprises that want to contribute their innovative ideas to the development of 5G in Italy.

Vodafone Business' remote proctoring solution makes it possible to "manipulate" the hologram of the patient-specific model in real time, performing cutting, sectioning, zooming operations, and virtually replicating the medical information needed to position and implant ad hoc devices.

Boston Scientific will use the solution to train technicians. In the initial phase, some of Boston Scientific's medical solutions will also be replicated in 3D and augmented reality, so they can be visualized and "manipulated" in the virtual, three-dimensional context of relevant clinical cases: in this way, observation and training of operating room staff can take place in a high-tech, interactive, safe environment that is even closer to the real user experience.
