CANTON, Mass.: Hendry Regional Medical Center (Clewiston, FL), a critical access hospital in rural Hendry County, has signed for the MEDITECH Expanse EHR to replace four disparate legacy systems and unify patient information into a single patient record. Transitioning to the cloud-native Expanse platform is anticipated to yield significant operational and clinical benefits, including improved physician efficiency, reduced staff burnout, and long-term financial savings.
“We are thrilled to partner with MEDITECH. Having a single patient record will greatly improve the safety and quality of care that we provide to our community,” said HRMC CEO David Theroux.
HRMC's decision to partner with MEDITECH was driven by the platform's proven customer success, cost-effectiveness, and strong foundation in rural healthcare.
“By shifting from multiple concurrent EHRs to a single integrated platform, we anticipate significant cost savings by eliminating redundant solutions and interfaces, and achieving greater efficiencies through improved workflows and processes,” said HRMC CFO Troy Eller. “We also look forward to having greater transparency over our revenue cycle, with real-time access and analysis of financial information across all of our care settings - which is something we did not experience with our legacy systems.”
HRMC will implement Expanse via MEDITECH as a Service (MaaS), which delivers the full enterprise-level Expanse EHR platform while reducing the time and cost of procuring, hosting, and maintaining an EHR on-premise.
“As a fully web-based and cloud-native platform, MEDITECH Expanse is easily accessible from any device and location, reducing workstation build requirements and ongoing desktop maintenance,” said HRMC Director of IT Harrington Fuller. “It also lowers the on-premises hardware footprint and simplifies reporting and interface management.”
Improving the patient experience is a key component of the HRMC’s modernization project. Patients will benefit from improved continuity of care as their chart follows them through their care journey. Another major focus of the project is the introduction of a new, consolidated MyHealth patient portal. The MyHealth portal empowers patients to take a more active role in their care by allowing them to easily access their health information, significantly elevating patient engagement and representing a major technological improvement for the local community.
Established in 1951, HRMC is celebrating 75 years of servicing Hendry County. Its EHR modernization project is branded as their 'Back to the Future' moment, a theme they are using to celebrate the hospital’s history and growth forward. The Expanse EHR will position them well for the next era of compassionate, technology-driven care.
“Hendry Regional Medical Center has a 75-year legacy as a trusted care provider to its community,” said MEDITECH Vice President Carol Labadini. “We are honored to partner with them on their modernization project by delivering our innovative, scalable MEDITECH Expanse EHR. This collaboration will help advance their mission to establish healthier communities and provide quality, compassionate care close to home.”
