STAFFORD, Va.: As Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) marks its 15th year on May 21, 2026, Level Access is launching free resources and discounted training to help organizations and individuals move beyond awareness and embed accessibility into everyday practice.
Every year, GAAD serves as a key reminder of the importance of digital access and inclusion. With 95.9% of the internet’s top homepages still containing accessibility failures, organizations have a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a more inclusive internet by making digital experiences accessible to people with disabilities and improving user experience overall.
Access to effective accessibility training plays a key role in improving and sustaining organizations’ digital accessibility efforts, according to Level Access research. The most recent State of Digital Accessibility Report, which surveyed more than 1,600 professionals globally, found that respondents at organizations with “highly effective” training are 2.6 times more likely to report that they approach accessibility proactively. They're also 72% more likely to report that accessibility is part of their organizational culture.
The business case is equally compelling: professionals at organizations with highly effective training are 3.8 times more likely to say digital accessibility contributes to revenue, and 2.5 times more likely to report improvements in customer acquisition due to accessibility.
To help accessibility champions seize the opportunity that highly effective training provides, and further promote accessibility education, Level Access has expanded access to its Academy learning platform to individual users. Level Access Academy was previously only available with an organizational license. The company is also:
Jon Avila, Chief Accessibility Officer at Level Access, said: ‘‘GAAD provides an opportunity for organizations to reflect on their accessibility progress and commitments. For accessibility programs to deliver true impact, it’s vital that this moment in time translates into sustained action. We know that when organizations invest in learning opportunities-backed by effective leadership and champions across the organization-accessibility becomes embedded into the culture, benefitting the business as a whole. We’re inviting every organization, at whatever stage of their accessibility journey, to use GAAD as a moment to reflect, recommit, and elevate their accessibility impact.”
