Expansion into one of Latin America's largest healthcare markets advances Butterfly's international growth strategy and mission to democratize medical imaging
BURLINGTON, Mass.: $BFLY #POCUS--Butterfly Network, Inc. (“Butterfly”) (NYSE: BFLY), a pioneer and leader in semiconductor-based ultrasound devices, programmable cloud software and AI, today announced the commercial availability of its Butterfly iQ+ and iQ3 handheld ultrasound devices and mobile application in Brazil through a network of authorized distribution partners.
Brazil is the largest medical device market in Latin America and one of the fastest-growing ultrasound markets globally,1,2 representing a significant opportunity to expand access to medical imaging. The country's public healthcare landscape also presents an important opportunity to improve access in two ways: increasing diagnostic capacity across high-volume hospitals, municipal health systems, clinics, and emergency care settings, while expanding access to underserved rural communities where geographic barriers can limit timely care.
“Successfully meeting Brazil's regulatory and certification requirements reflects the strength of Butterfly's technology and our ability to bring trusted ultrasound solutions to clinicians in markets with the highest standards,” said John Soto, Senior Vice President of International at Butterfly Network. “We're excited to work with our distribution partners to make Butterfly available across Brazil and help more clinicians deliver imaging at the point of care.”
Butterfly's ultrasound platform combines its proprietary Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology with intuitive mobile applications compatible with supported iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, enabling healthcare professionals to perform whole-body imaging using a single handheld device. The Company's semiconductor-based approach replaces traditional piezoelectric crystal-based systems with a more portable and accessible solution designed to expand access to medical imaging.
The launch in Brazil further expands Butterfly's global commercial footprint as the Company continues to increase access to its technology in key international markets.
