Dr. Šivic brings to Tolion a rare blend of world-class academic achievement and hands-on experience developing AI systems with real-world impact. Recently appointed full Professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Czech Technical University in Prague by Czech President Petr Pavel, he leads the Intelligent Machine Perception Research Group at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC CTU) and serves as Director of European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) Unit Prague, a pan-European AI network of excellence, which is expanding into the nationwide ELLIS Unit Czechia initiative.

Dr. Šivic earned his PhD from the University of Oxford in 2006, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT CSAIL, and spent more than a decade at Inria Paris, where he became Directeur de Recherche. His distinctions include an ERC Advanced Grant, the 2023 Czech AI Award, and the 2025 Ordre des Palmes Académiques, recognizing his contributions to education and scientific collaboration with France.
