Technology Maturation Initiative (TMI) funding expands TyrOS across the 1st Cavalry Division, adding maintenance, PMCS, and medical logistics.
ARLINGTON, Va.: Rune Technologies, which builds sustainment mission command technologies for the U.S. military and allied nations, today announced a $4.1 million Technology Maturation Initiative (TMI) award from the U.S. Army through the Army Applications Laboratory (AAL). The award will expand Rune's TyrOS deployment across the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, and connect logistics demand directly to unmanned aircraft and ground vehicles for autonomous resupply.
Rune demonstrated sustainment orchestration and autonomous resupply with 1st Cavalry sustainers at Pegasus Charge 3, where TyrOS built a demand picture, generated a course of action, and tasked an unmanned aircraft to execute it. The TyrOS Autonomy Development Kit (ADK) makes that sequence repeatable with any vendor’s hardware.
A manufacturer registers its platform with TyrOS in days rather than quarters, and a logistician tasks it alongside manned assets through a single operational workflow. TyrOS matches each mission to the right asset, determines what it carries and where it goes, and coordinates movement across the force. Rune provides the mission autonomy layer, independent of the vehicles that execute beneath it.
Under the TMI award, Rune will continue expansion of TyrOS across the 1st Cavalry Division and assigned mission threads through operational exercises and soldier feedback. The effort will use the TyrOS ADK to connect real-time logistics demand with unmanned aircraft and ground vehicles, and to generate dynamic resupply recommendations, enabling real-time logistics in motion.
Rune will also integrate vehicle and equipment data to improve maintenance and aviation readiness, and digitize preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS). The effort will advance mission autonomy and automated casualty evacuation by connecting battlefield demand, patient status, treatment capacity, evacuation routes, and available manned and unmanned platforms to plan and execute casualty movement across multiple levels of care.
"A division can have all the unmanned platforms it wants. Rune has deployed TyrOS with the 1st Cavalry Division, 4th and 25th Infantry Divisions, XVIII Airborne Corps, and holds its first Air Force award through AFWERX. TyrOS is the only application selected by both prime teams on the Army's Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) program, and Rune is the sole logistics provider on the Marine Corps' Command and Control modernization effort, Project Dynamis.
