Rapid growth this year to over 50 paying customers, including Ro, Coursera, Modern Treasury and the University of Michigan, use Mintive to control agent access to enterprise systems

Announces $11 million in total funding, including new round led by Cowboy Ventures, with backers including Coatue and the founders of Okta and WorkOS

SAN FRANCISCO: Mintive, builders of infrastructure for the agentic enterprise, today announced that its platform powers 2.5 million agent calls daily across more than 50 paying enterprise customers, including Ro in healthcare, Modern Treasury in payments infrastructure, the University of Michigan and Coursera in education, and Apax in private equity. The company has covered more than 200 million calls in just seven months, demonstrating the power and need for its platform.

Demonstrating the increasing demand for a new kind of infrastructure for enterprises, Mintive also announced $7 million in new funding led by Cowboy Ventures, bringing the total to $11 million. Investors include Coatue, Operator Collective, Burst Capital, Maven Ventures and Hustle Fund, as well as Okta co-founder Frederic Kerrest, WorkOS founder and CEO Michael Grinich, former Adobe Chief Product Officer Scott Belsky, Discovery Loop co-founder and former Google Chief Scientist Jeff Dean and OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy.

Mintive was founded by Jiquan Ngiam, who became Coursera's founding engineer after pursuing a Stanford Ph.D. in AI with Professor Andrew Ng and was a senior staff software engineer at Google Brain, and by Vijay Vasudevan, who co-created TensorFlow at Google along with Bo Zhi See and Phillip Bensaid. The founders started the company after seeing the first enterprise agents enter production with broad access and no clear record of which agent had taken which actions.

Enterprises from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies are deploying agents to scale and drive their business. According to Gartner, by the end of 2026, 40 percent of enterprise applications will feature task-specific AI agents, moving up from less than 5 percent a year ago, and by 2028, the average global Fortune 500 enterprise will have over 150,000 agents, up from less than 15 in 2025. To manage and make enterprises secure, proper governance, identity management and provisioning are critical. Mintive provides that infrastructure, built from the ground up for the swarm of agents enterprises will need to manage.

“We’re early in the enterprise adoption of AI with the major gating factors being governance, IT and security team ability to oversee, identity management, and security,” said Aileen Lee, founder and managing partner at Cowboy Ventures. "Mintive offers the critical, scalable, trusted third-party scaffolding businesses need to deliver agent identity, permissions and tracing, regardless of the underlying models."

Mintive provides the infrastructure for the agentic enterprise by treating each agent the way an enterprise has long treated an employee, with its own identity and only the access its work requires. Otherwise, each new agent platform brings another permissions model, integration path and set of controls for security teams to manage across coding agents, chat assistants and whatever a team adopts next. Mintive’s MCP Gateway governs tool access, and its LLM Gateway governs AI model calls, so one set of rules applies across agents, models and tools. Enterprises can adopt Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, internally built agents and future platforms without rebuilding the controls underneath them. Mint Guard screens calls for prompt injection, exposed secrets, personal data and other risks before they reach enterprise systems. Each tool call can be traced back to the person who initiated it, the agent that acted, the server it reached and the model involved. The platform is SOC 2 Type II audited.

"Agents are already working inside company systems, and each one needs its own identity and permissions, just as every employee does," said Jiquan "JQ" Ngiam, co-founder and CEO of Mintive. "Mintive provides the framework for these agents to have more responsibility and move faster with the right permissions and controls, so no rogue agent moves out of a sandbox to compromise the enterprise.”

“When employees want to use AI agents, simply blocking access isn't an effective security strategy. People will find ways around it,” said Christian Burrows, Head of Security at Stability AI. “The better approach is to make saying yes the easy path, giving employees the freedom to use these tools while ensuring security teams have the visibility and control they need over what agents can access and do and this is what Mintive does for us.”

Mintive also offers Coworker agents that work alongside teams in Slack or Teams to write and review code, support sales and marketing, as well as carry out tasks that use enterprise data. These agents have long-term memory and are able to proactively get work done.

At Modern Treasury, a bank operations agent built with Mintive Coworker agents searches across Sentry, Notion, Linear, the codebase and internal tools before a technical account manager steps in. This cuts 30 minutes from simpler cases and up to four hours from complex ones. At Ro, Mintive operates in a healthcare environment where agent access and auditability carry security and compliance requirements alongside the work itself. At the University of Michigan, Mintive serves as an enterprise Model Context Protocol (MCP) gateway, giving students, faculty, and staff a common path to approved tools while central IT maintains one layer of access and control.

About Mintive

Mintive is the infrastructure for the agentic enterprise. Its platform gives AI agents governed access to the tools, systems and data they need to work, while giving enterprise IT and security teams one layer to manage identity, permissions, security and observability across models and AI platforms. Mintive brings together agent identity, gateways, monitoring, security and coworker agents so companies can accelerate AI adoption without rebuilding controls around every new model or tool.
