Three leading mortgage lenders reaffirm their commitment to trusted credit risk assessment and responsible access to homeownership
BOZEMAN, Mont.: $FICO--FICO (NYSE: FICO), global analytics software leader, today announced that Fairway Home Mortgage, Movement Mortgage and Rate have enrolled in the FICO® Preferred Program and will continue to pull FICO® Scores across their mortgage lending operations.
Together, the three lenders represent a broad cross-section of the mortgage market, from retail and digital mortgage lending to the correspondent and secondary markets. Their decision to join the Preferred Program demonstrates continued demand for FICO Scores across the mortgage ecosystem and gives each lender access to both the score the industry relies on today and FICO’s most predictive credit score for the future.
“At Fairway, our commitment is to offer the best possible rates and terms to our borrowers and as such we will continue to evaluate FICO Scores in our wide range of eligible loan products and programs,” said Stacey Sprain, Senior Vice President of Credit and Vendor Support at Fairway Home Mortgage, a full-service mortgage lender licensed in all 50 states and the #2 overall retail lender in the United States.
Rate, a leading fintech company, will continue to pull FICO Scores across its mortgage operations. With a broad range of mortgage products, including conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo, non-QM and HELOCs, Rate’s continued use of FICO Scores provides consistency in assessing risk across its business.
“At Rate, we’re focused on giving our customers a fast, transparent and affordable path to homeownership,” said Nik Athanasiou, COO of Rate. "FICO Scores remain an important tool in our credit decisioning. We’re committed to using the best available data and tools to make responsible lending decisions for our customers.”
Movement Mortgage, a national top 10 retail mortgage lender, began evaluating FICO® Score 10T in 2023, pulling and analyzing the score alongside Classic FICO® Score on its mortgages. Its participation in the Preferred Program builds on that early adoption and reinforces Movement’s focus on using thorough, predictive credit risk assessment to support lending decisions.
“We’re proud to be a leader in our industry as it modernizes, and we remain committed to helping our customers so they can achieve their goals and build wealth through homeownership,” said Stephen Smith, President and CFO at Movement Mortgage. “We were the first lender to start pulling FICO Score 10T and will continue to pull FICO Scores across our business.”
“What we’re seeing from these lenders is a clear commitment to both continuity and progress,” said Julie May, Vice President and General Manager of B2B Scores at FICO. “They want a trusted, consistent measure of risk today and the ability to take advantage of more predictive credit scoring as the mortgage industry evolves. That ultimately means better-informed credit decisions and more opportunities for qualified borrowers.”
