Accreditation underscores BARR’s commitment to quality and impartiality.
KANSAS CITY, Mo.: BARR Advisory, a global cybersecurity and compliance firm, today announced its accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to conduct SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 examinations in accordance with internationally recognized requirements for quality, impartiality, and consistency.
The accreditation follows a rigorous assessment and provides third-party validation that BARR possesses the management systems, personnel qualifications, and commitment to objectivity required under ISO/IEC 17020:2026 to reliably conduct SOC 2 examinations.
“For service organizations, a SOC 2 report is often a prerequisite for growth and establishing customer trust,” said Cameron Kline, practice leader of attest services at BARR Advisory. “This accreditation gives our clients added confidence that their SOC 2 examination was conducted by an objective, thoroughly vetted inspection body that adheres to strict international standards.”
The achievement comes just months after BARR announced that it had achieved authorization as a Certified CMMC Third-Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO), allowing the firm to perform formal certification assessments for organizations pursuing Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 compliance.
BARR also received the highest possible rating of “pass” in its 2026 peer review, continuing a track record of successfully passing every peer review since the firm’s founding.
BARR is part of a small group of U.S. firms that is qualified to audit against all of the leading cybersecurity and compliance frameworks, including SOC 2, CMMC, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and HITRUST.
BARR Advisory was evaluated against A2LA R335 (Specific Requirements – Cybersecurity Inspection Body Program) and AICPA attestation standards (AT-C 105, 205, and 320; TSP Section 100) to inspect service organization systems.
BARR Advisory’s formal Certificate (No. 7305.01) and Scope of Accreditation can be viewed in the A2LA online directory at www.A2LA.org.
