NEW YORK: PackageX, the leading provider of inbound receiving and AI scanning logistics software, has driven significant improvements to its AI capabilities and Shipping Label OCR, improving the workforce efficiency and receiving processes for buildings, warehouses, and campuses.
Since 2018, PackageX has successfully led the market in AI scanning solutions for logistics teams. Today, the PackageX AI team has furthered innovation by successfully training the Shipping Label OCR on over half a million shipping labels, improving the accuracy of data capture by over 14%. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the company's pursuit of cutting-edge AI solutions and its commitment to automating traditionally manual logistics processes.
The results are:
“PackageX’s Vision and AI team has worked tirelessly to develop our enhanced AI model, which will be instrumental in improving inbound receiving processes by expediting data capture from shipping labels, increasing throughput in mailrooms and warehouses, and connecting key systems in the supply chain via digitized data,” said Farrukh Mahboob, Founder and CEO at PackageX.
In addition to more robust training for the cloud AI models, PackageX is announcing its new on-device OCR capability, enabling real-time scanning and extraction of shipping label data directly on mobile devices, eliminating the need for internet connectivity and ensuring rapid data processing for improved efficiency and security.
“While large language models (LLMs) and general artificial intelligence (Gen AI) capture headlines, the true potential for innovation lies in developing small, specialized models tailored to specific use cases,” explained Asim Darwaish, Head of AI & Data Science at PackageX. “Particularly in logistics, where transactions are complex, and the margin for error is minimal, large models fall short. PackageX is pioneering this approach by transitioning from cloud-based solutions to on-device models, enabling real-time scanning and extraction of essential logistics attributes with unparalleled speed and accuracy.”
