BALTIMORE: Truliant Consulting is launching today the white paper AI and Automation in Pharmacovigilance: Transformative Trends and Future Outlook. This white paper is the result of an open survey targeted to pharmaceutical companies to understand how they are implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in their Pharmacovigilance (PV) structures.
“We reached out to contacts that Truliant has in the industry and were able to gather insightful information from 15 companies of various sizes and ICSR annual volumes. Their responses allowed us to understand how companies are deploying AI and what is the industry’s perception on future possibilities,” said Ms. Qian, co-founder of Truliant Consulting and co-author of the white paper.
The authors mention that the white paper aims to clarify the differences between automation and AI, as well as provide examples of how the technology has been applied to PV over the years.
Truliant co-founder and co-author of the article Mr. Khurana has shared, “AI has become a hot topic across PV conferences and business meetings. However, we sense that PV experts do not always understand the multiple technologies that can be deployed to automate PV processes. Here, we provide examples of how simple rule-based automation can help companies to increase efficiency and how different types of AI can be utilized.”
The authors emphasize that applying AI to PV requires a concerted effort from regulators, pharmaceutical companies, and service vendors. They also recognize that AI amplifies rather than replaces human expertise.
The white paper will be accessible through Truliant Consulting website here.
