SAN FRANCISCO: Cobalt, the pioneer of Pentest as a Service (PTaaS) and leading provider of offensive security solutions, today announced that research firm GigaOm has named Cobalt as a ‘Leader’ and ‘Outperformer’ in the Innovation/Platform Play quadrant of its latest PTaaS Radar chart for the third year in a row.
This GigaOm Radar Report for Penetration Testing as a Service examines 13 of the top PTaaS solutions and compares offerings against the capabilities, key features, and other criteria required for businesses. It notes how PTaaS enables organizations to ‘proactively identify and address vulnerabilities in their IT infrastructure, applications, and networks’ and that ‘this technology is crucial in today's rapidly evolving threat landscape, where traditional point-in-time security assessments are no longer sufficient.’
Cobalt has been named an ‘Outperformer’ for the third year in a row ‘due to its aggressive roadmaps and success executing them to yield very strong scores across multiple key features and emerging features.’ The company scored a maximum 5/5 for its ‘retesting of findings,’ ‘integration with software development lifecycle technologies,’ ‘crowdsourcing of pen testers,’ ‘integration with attack surface management’ and ‘streamlined procurement.’ The report also remarks that: ‘the vendor has a track record of providing frequent releases and updates' and 'the solution offers unlimited free retesting for 6-12 months, conducted by original pentesters, ensuring efficient and transparent vulnerability remediation.’
“The PTaaS market is evolving rapidly, driven by increasing cybersecurity threats and a growing recognition of the limitations of traditional penetration testing approaches. We're seeing a trend towards more sophisticated, AI-driven testing capabilities, improved integration with existing security and development tools, and enhanced reporting and analytics features. Vendors are focusing on providing more comprehensive, end-to-end security solutions that combine continuous testing with other security services,” said Chris Ray, Analyst at GigaOm.
Cobalt was also praised for its carefully vetted ‘large pool of experienced testers' who ‘ensure high-quality expertise across various security services.’ GigaOm highlighted Cobalt’s agility with rapid support for customer needs as a common theme throughout the report including ‘the platform's streamlined onboarding process and ability to launch tests within 24 hours’ which helps to ‘address the needs of businesses requiring quick security assessments, such as those preparing for product launches or responding to newly discovered vulnerabilities.’
“Being awarded perfect 5/5 scores in several of GigaOm’s decision criteria for our platform and people for the third consecutive year highlights Cobalt’s unique value to customers,” said Jason Lamar, SVP Product at Cobalt. “Our combination of innovative technology and on-demand access to top-tier security expertise empowers organizations to quickly and effectively address vulnerabilities across an evolving attack surface. By providing scalable offensive security testing, we help customers close their window of vulnerability, reduce risk, and stay ahead of emerging threats.”
