Global supply chain leader advances new sustainability solutions and sets net zero targets

DALLAS: Blue Yonder, the world leader in digital supply chain transformation, has released its inaugural Sustainability Report. The report showcases how the company is delivering end-to-end capabilities to help its customers reduce carbon emissions and waste and highlights trends in sustainable supply chains across industries.

“While today’s most advanced technology is helping supply chains move faster than ever, there is a real opportunity for this technology to play a big role in sustainability,” said Duncan Angove, CEO, Blue Yonder. “Many supply chains are inefficient, requiring exorbitant energy usage and producing harmful waste. Blue Yonder is seizing on this opportunity, utilizing the industry’s only true end-to-end cloud platform to bring together all aspects of the supply chain to make it more efficient, robust and sustainable. We are committed to supporting our customers’ sustainability goals by developing new capabilities focused on carbon reduction, traceability and waste reduction.”

In its 2024 Supply Chain Executive Survey, Blue Yonder found that 44% of organizations increased their sustainability initiatives in the past year. In addition, of the companies that invested in their supply chain, sustainability was the top area of investment (48%).

As a provider of supply chain software solutions with more than 3,000 global customers, Blue Yonder is committed to leveraging technology to positively influence the supply chain’s impact on sustainability. To accomplish this, the company plans to advance four key goals outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically developing new solutions that align with:

  • Goal 2: Zero Hunger: Through its supply chain solutions, Blue Yonder empowers organizations to improve inventory management, reduce waste, and enhance traceability, supporting efforts to eradicate hunger and ensure access to nutritious food for all.
  • Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being: Through its supply chain solutions, Blue Yonder optimizes networks, allowing companies to ensure the availability of critical medical supplies, medications, and equipment, ultimately supporting better health outcomes and well-being for communities worldwide.
  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production: Through its supply chain solutions, Blue Yonder promotes the circular economy, enabling waste avoidance through improved inventory management and manufacturing planning and facilitating lower carbon and waste returns.
  • Goal 13: Climate Action: Through its supply chain solutions, Blue Yonder empowers organizations to measure, monitor, and mitigate their carbon emissions and environmental impact across planning, transportation, warehousing and returns.

The company also set new sustainability goals and has committed to the following actions by 2030:

  • Achieve Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 Emissions: Aligning with the Paris Agreement, achieve net zero for scope 1 and 2 emissions, while decreasing the company’s scope 3 emissions.
  • Use 100% Renewable Energy for Operations: Transitioning to renewable energy sources, powering Blue Yonder offices with wind, solar and other renewable power through a combination of onsite renewable energy, direct purchase through the utility, and renewable energy certificates (RECs).

“Supply chains play a pivotal role in achieving sustainability goals,” said Saskia van Gendt, chief sustainability officer, Blue Yonder. “At Blue Yonder, sustainability is more than a commitment to the planet; it’s also a promise to our customers, partners and associates that we will harness technology to power the future of sustainable supply chains. We couldn’t be more excited for all that we can achieve with our customers.”
