Brady’s appointment punctuates the nonprofit’s commitment to building a comprehensive system of care for youth mental health
OREM, Utah: Troomi Wireless, a leader in safe and empowering technology for families, is proud to share that its CEO, Bill Brady, has joined the Board of Directors of Speak Our Minds, a nonprofit dedicated to ending the youth mental health crisis. This partnership underscores Troomi’s mission to promote digital safety and emotional well-being for children in an increasingly connected world.
The youth mental health crisis continues to grow: approximately 60.3% of youth with major depression in the U.S. receive no mental health care, and less than 10% of children and youth receive evidence-based mental health care. For instance, in Colorado, where Speak Our Minds is based, 18.6% of young people have needed mental health care in the past year but didn’t receive nearly triple the number from a decade ago. These alarming trends highlight the urgent need for systemic solutions to support youth mental health.
“Managing the exposure of children and youth to the digital landscape is of critical importance in achieving positive mental health outcomes, and Troomi's commitment to ensuring safe and thoughtful access is why we are so excited to have Bill join the board,” said Heidi Baskfield, Executive Director of Speak Our Minds. “We are thrilled to welcome Bill to our board and look forward to working with him to create a comprehensive system of care that prioritizes children’s mental health.”
Speak Our Minds began as a coalition of 130 national partners through the Children’s Hospital Association’s 2021 “Sound the Alarm for Kids” campaign, which declared a national emergency for youth mental health. Now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it works to build an accessible system of care by uniting healthcare providers, payors, parents, elected officials, and business leaders in their shared mission to create life-saving change for America’s youth.
“At Troomi, we understand that digital safety and mental health are inextricably connected, and our commitment to whole digital wellness aligns perfectly with Speak Our Minds’ vital mission,” said Brady. “It is an honor to join the board of such an impactful organization, and I look forward to contributing to the critical work of ending the youth mental health crisis.”
Brady’s appointment reinforces Troomi’s commitment to fostering a safer, healthier digital environment for children while supporting their emotional well-being. By collaborating with Speak Our Minds, Troomi continues championing innovative solutions that empower families and address the most pressing challenges facing today’s youth.
