Annual Program Aims to Sharpen Skills and Accelerate Careers for Underrepresented Communities in Technology
BOSTON: O'Reilly, the premier learning platform for technology professionals, today announced the launch of its 2025 diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) scholarship program. Designed to accelerate career growth for underrepresented groups in technology, including women, the Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Asian communities, the LGBTQIA+ community, veterans, and people with a physical or neurological disability, the scholarship will award 500 recipients with a year of complimentary access to the O’Reilly online learning platform and expert-curated content. Applications are being accepted now through April 5.
As part of their free membership, scholarship recipients will receive unlimited access to over 5,000 role-based, on-demand O’Reilly courses, participation in popular live events such as the Superstream Series, and a full digital library of O’Reilly books. Scholarship recipients will also have access to the O’Reilly AI Academy, O’Reilly’s latest offering of hundreds of generative AI-focused learning resources to build the necessary skills to put AI tools to work. The latest version of O’Reilly Answers further provides scholarship users instant access to concise, trustworthy information aimed at deepening their technical understanding while learning in the flow of work.
“In today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape, diversity is a strategic necessity—certainly for innovation, but also to address the looming tech skills gap that will make finding talent harder than ever," said Laura Baldwin, president of O’Reilly. "By providing unrestricted access to O'Reilly's vast learning ecosystem, including cutting-edge courses, live events, and AI-focused resources, we’re democratizing access to state-of-the-art knowledge and fostering a new generation of tech leaders who bring diverse perspectives to solving global challenges.”
Recipients will also benefit from access to top preparatory materials and practice tests for the most sought-after certifications in the industry, as well as interactive labs and sandboxes that provide opportunities to experiment with live code in real development environments. Additionally, scholarship recipients can earn verifiable and shareable digital badges, allowing them to showcase their expertise as demand for high-skill technical roles grows.
According to the World Economic Forum, at the current rate of progress it will take until 2158 to achieve full gender parity. By helping 500 scholarship recipients to upskill and enter the tech industry each year, O’Reilly is working to do its part to both reduce the time to parity and fill the expected jobs gap of over 85 million skilled tech workers who will be needed in the next five years.
