New features include a gamified environment, enhanced navigation and progress tracking to improve learner engagement and performance

WILMINGTON, Mass.: CMD+CTRL Security, a leader in software security training, has once again transformed software security with an enhanced Base Camp training platform that includes a completely redesigned user interface, enhanced navigation and a robust feature set to create a more engaging and intuitive learning environment. An adventure-driven training journey makes it easy for learners to confidently track progress toward key milestones and continuing professional education credits, while completing role-specific curriculum designed to address vulnerabilities early in the development lifecycle.

In addition to the user interface enhancements, this latest product release includes 15 new courses and hands-on labs for software security professionals across the SDLC including architects, engineers, developers, analysts and more to defend against emerging threats and reduce organizational risk. The course designs have also been overhauled to incorporate adventure-themed graphics, responsive design and advanced features to aid in efficient learning.

“The redesigned Base Camp platform vastly improves the learning experience by offering a visually appealing interface and intuitive functionality to improve course adoption and completion rates, while making the training journey fun and engaging,” said Jose Lazu, associate director of Product Management at CMD+CTRL Security. “We incorporated feedback from our customers and their teams to streamline training efficiency and offer more robust reporting and insights to measure and track learner performance.”

New and enhanced features and functionality found in this latest release of Base Camp include:

  • A more intuitive and engaging interface – The updated Base Camp experience is more visually appealing and user-friendly so learners can easily navigate courses, track their progress and access resources. Personalized profiles help users track their learning journey as they are guided through framework-specific pathways with customizable real-time notifications.
  • Adventure-themed navigation for an immersive experience – The mountaineering-themed program includes a central hub for Assigned Adventures, a Learning Expedition dashboard for tracking key milestones and progress indicators that let learners see where they are and where they are going, in an engaging and gamified environment.
  • Simplified course management and tracking – Status indicators let users know if courses are mandatory or optional and whether they have not started, are in progress or have completed a course. They also display course availability, upcoming or expired sessions and required actions.
  • Easier Administration The new synchronization feature allows enterprise customers to seamlessly add and remove users as their internal HR systems are updated. This includes advanced nudges and notification settings to help encourage the timely completion of courses in compliance with training mandates.

New Courses and Labs

CMD+CTRL Security is introducing two new courses and 13 new hands-on labs to address emerging threats and help enterprises strengthen their security practices.

These courses and labs provide targeted learning resources and practical guidance for teams on mitigating security risks including expanded content coverage for cloud database security, preventing API vulnerabilities, Python API applications and enterprise security tactics from the MITRE ATT&CK framework. Additional content on the 2025 OWASP Top 10 and defending against AI/LLM vulnerabilities will be available later this year.

More than 300 companies and over one million participants have enhanced their skills with CMD+CTRL Security’s award-winning training, from Global 100 software companies to mid-size tech companies, financial services firms and retailers. CMD+CTRL Security is ranked as a leader in the Fall 2024 G2 Grid® Report for Secure Code Training, and was named a winner in the cybersecurity training and cybersecurity education provider categories for Cyber Defense Magazine’s 2025 Cybersecurity Excellence awards.
