MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.: Syllo, the litigation workspace for the AI era, today announced that the company and Ballard Spahr have been named the collaborative winners of the 2025 Trailblazer Award from the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), and Syllo CEO, Jeffrey Chivers, has won the ILTA Peer Award for Innovative Leader. The awards, part of ILTA’s Distinguished Peers Awards, were presented last night at ILTA’s EVOLVE conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The Trailblazer Award recognizes Ballard Spahr’s collaboration with Syllo to deploy Syllo’s litigation workspace, which features the use of agentic AI to automate first-level document review in complex litigations across the firm. Ballard Spahr’s use of Syllo’s agentic AI system includes performing a fully automated review for more than 25 issue prompts across more than 1.5 million documents. Together, Syllo and Ballard Spahr, along with practitioners from six additional law firms, co-authored a white paper describing how Ballard Spahr used Syllo’s groundbreaking agentic AI document review system in a responsiveness review to achieve results that far exceed traditional document review benchmarks.
Jeffrey Chivers, CEO of Syllo, received the Innovation Leader Award, which recognizes an outstanding achievement by an individual maximizing the value of an innovative technology in support of legal professionals. Chivers co-founded Syllo and spearheaded development of its agentic AI document review solution. This solution is integrated into Syllo’s litigation workspace, a platform of unprecedented scope that encompasses eDiscovery, case management, workflow automation, discovery management, legal knowledge management, and work product generation.
Syllo’s agentic AI coordinates multiple large language models that organize and delegate the work of the document review between one another and autonomously make decisions about how to conduct the review within guidelines set by users. This agentic solution applies an unlimited number of issue codes and consistently and substantially outperforms benchmarks of prior generations of technology-assisted review and human review in real-world complex litigations.
“On behalf of the team of incredible and innovative Syllo employees, we are honored to be recognized alongside Ballard Spahr by ILTA,” said Chivers. “These two awards further validate our commitment to our clients to deliver powerful tools that enhance the practice of law and give our clients an edge in litigation.”
