Supporting its Third-Generation Mobile Satellite Services Across Central and South America
COVINGTON, La.: Globalstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: GSAT), a next-generation telecommunications infrastructure and technology provider today announced the addition of eight new six-meter C-3 tracking antennas being installed at its ground stations across Brazil.
For more than two decades, Globalstar has provided mobile satellite services across Brazil via ground stations located in Manaus, Petrolina, and Presidente Prudente. Each of these Globalstar-owned ground stations are being expanded to include two additional C-3 tracking antennas.
In addition to the above three locations, Globalstar leverages a fourth ground station location with Ascenty Data Centers e Telecomunicações S.A. and has contracted to install two more 6-meter tracking antennas at Ascenty’s existing teleport in Sao Paulo.
These multiple enhancements will ensure high service quality and redundancy of essential network elements, supporting a next generation of mobile satellite connectivity, including IoT and D2D solutions. These solutions are essential across the vast regions of Brazil and South America, which are not supported by terrestrial mobile networks.
“Brazil and South America have always been very important markets for Globalstar, and we are looking forward to supporting the latest mobile satellite solutions there with the substantial upgrades and expansions of our ground infrastructure and third-generation C-3 satellite system,” said L. Barbee Ponder, General Counsel and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. “Stay connected with Globalstar, no matter where your ventures take you across South America.”
Ponder continued, “With Brazil, Globalstar has now announced construction projects related to its third-generation C-3 system that are ongoing at 14 different locations in eight countries on four continents – and this is just the beginning.”
The eight new antennas being installed in Brazil are part of a sweeping global expansion including up to 90 new tracking antennas supporting Globalstar’s third-generation C-3 Satellite System. This expansion represents a significant investment in the functionality, capacity, and future proofing of its network and is designed to support a next generation of services to hundreds of millions of people around the world.
