Excellence in Healthcare Awards Presented to Practices Leveraging Technology to Deliver Meaningful Outcomes

NASHVILLE, Tenn.: #NextGenHealthcare--NextGen Healthcare, a leading provider of innovative, cloud-based healthcare technology solutions, hosted over two thousand ambulatory healthcare professionals and industry experts from around the country in Nashville last week for the company’s 28th annual user group meeting (UGM).

One highlight of UGM 25 was the unveiling of Nia™, NextGen Healthcare’s intelligent orchestrator agent designed to radically transform how providers and staff interact with the EHR (electronic health record). Through natural voice or text, Nia™ interprets intent and seamlessly coordinates a network of specialized AI agents-each with its own domain expertise. These agents autonomously execute tasks across clinical, financial, and operational workflows, from retrieving patient insights and summarizing encounters to managing schedules, verifying coverage, streamlining documentation, and supporting revenue optimization. By enabling proactive, hands-free interaction and intelligent delegation, Nia™ redefines the EHR experience-freeing providers and staff to focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional patient care.

Nia™ is just one of several AI models and innovations that were also announced at the event covering all aspects of practice administration from scribing to intelligent document management, self-serve analytics on demand, patient-facing call center agents, claims and billing intelligence and much more.

“As we first said two years ago at UGM 23, the ‘The New UI is No UI™.’ UGM 25 underscored our continued commitment to listening to our clients and creating a dynamic patient and staff experience,” said Srinivas (Sri) Velamoor, president and chief executive officer, NextGen Healthcare. “With Nia™, we’re introducing a new standard in AI-driven innovation while continuing our focus on creating technology that delivers real impact and meaningfully serves our clients and their healthcare communities.”

Innovation remained a theme throughout the conference, with several practices recognized for their creative use of healthtech at the highly anticipated Excellence in Healthcare Awards:

  • Excellence in Clinical Care: Heartland Community Health Network leveraged the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Template Editor to develop an Encounter Scoring Tool that provides real-time feedback on documentation completeness. Since launch, this innovation has empowered providers to complete 8,500+ additional preventive care interventions, ensuring patients receive timely, proactive care.
  • Excellence in Financial Operations: Two winners were announced in this category. Vision Innovation Partners created a unified revenue cycle ecosystem that increased transparency and improved workflows across its remote RCM team, leading to a 44 percent decrease in denied claims, a clean claims rate of 98.7 percent, and a 60 percent reduction in AR over 90 days. Community Health Development, Inc. optimized revenue cycle and claims management processes to reduce errors, accelerate reimbursement, and automate billing workflows while improving patient experience. Program income increased, days in AR dropped from 90 to 20, and funding sources were diversified, placing the organization on stronger financial footing.
  • Excellence in Patient Experience: Barbour Orthopaedics & Spine integrated the NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Mobile, and NextGen® Patient Experience Platform to create a seamless digital workflow for MRI screening. Using these tools, they achieved 95% completion rate of the MRI screening form before the encounter, reducing delays, clinical risk, and lost revenue.

Award winners led educational sessions about their projects, offering attendees a chance to learn best practices from peers. Specialty-specific forums, an FQHC Executive Summit, and a Mirth Tech Innovation Summit created valuable spaces for attendees to exchange ideas, ask questions and build community in smaller groups.
