COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.: The Sanborn Map Company, Inc. (Sanborn Geospatial) today announced the renewal of its ISO 9001:2015 certification, a globally recognized standard for quality management systems. This renewal affirms Sanborn’s ongoing commitment to excellence in its geospatial information products and services and, for the first time, expands the certification’s scope to include Sanborn Geophysics in Ontario, Canada – the company’s geophysical sensor manufacturing and survey subsidiary.

ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard for quality management systems, providing a framework and set of principles that ensure organizations consistently meet customer requirements and improve their processes. More than one million companies across 170+ countries are ISO 9001 certified, reflecting its status as the worldwide benchmark for operational excellence. Achieving and maintaining this certification signals to clients and partners that an organization embraces accountability, continuous improvement, and consistency in delivering products or services.

“Attaining this renewed ISO certification across our key operations, including our new geophysics division, is more than a corporate milestone – it’s a testament to Sanborn’s operational maturity and track record,” said Rick Ninmer, Vice President of Administration at Sanborn. “Our clients entrust us with critical geospatial data and technology needs, and they need to know we have accountable processes and a continuous improvement mindset in place.”

Why ISO 9001:2015 Matters for Sanborn and Its Clients:

  • Accountability and Transparency: Certification verifies that Sanborn maintains a transparent and robust quality management system, with documented processes that are rigorously followed. This assures stakeholders that the company operates with defined standards and oversight.
  • Continuous Improvement: ISO 9001:2015 requires a culture of continual evaluation and improvement. Sanborn’s recertification validates its ongoing dedication to satisfying stakeholders and improving its management systems.
  • Consistency and Reliability: The standard ensures that outputs are reliable, repeatable, and meet customer requirements. For Sanborn’s clients, this translates into dependable delivery of high-quality geospatial solutions.

Expanded Multi-Site Certification in the U.S. and Canada

The inclusion of the Ontario site reflects the company’s growth and broadened capabilities. Sanborn Geophysics – established near Toronto in 2024 – specializes in geophysical survey services and the manufacture of advanced sensor technologies for subsurface mapping. By bringing this division under the same certified quality system, Sanborn ensures that its sensor development and manufacturing processes adhere to the same rigorous quality controls as its mapping and GIS service operations.

About The Sanborn Map Company:

Founded in 1866, Sanborn is one of the nation’s most experienced and trusted providers of geospatial data, mapping, and intelligence solutions. The company offers end-to-end geophysical capabilities, aerial imagery, LiDAR, 3D modeling, data hosting, and AI-driven analytics for government, energy, mining, and many other commercial customers nationwide.
