SANTA ROSA, Calif.: Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced the signing of a five-year Master Research Collaboration Agreement (MRCA) with Singapore’s leading quantum research institutions: Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), the National University of Singapore (NUS) through the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), to advance capabilities in quantum computing. This collaboration covers the design, measurement, and control of qubits.
Quantum computing holds immense promise for transformative applications. However, realizing this potential requires overcoming significant challenges in scalability, connectivity, and architectural flexibility. This new partnership addresses hurdles in the design and control of quantum processor chips through targeted collaborative initiatives. One key focus will be on integrating Keysight’s advanced Quantum Control Systems (QCS) to execute precise algorithms on novel processor architectures featuring flexible gate designs. Another area of collaboration centers on characterizing qubit fabrication processes and advancing cryogenic measurement capabilities, where Keysight’s state-of-the-art measurement hardware plays a pivotal role.
Developing scalable and modular quantum chip designs requires advanced and adaptable electronic design automation (EDA) and integration tools. Keysight brings a distinguished legacy of engineering excellence in developing EDA tools for radio frequency and microwave applications. Building on that foundation, Keysight’s quantum circuit design package, QuantumPro, has become a trusted solution for academic and research institutions advancing quantum computing. As part of this collaboration, Keysight engineers will work closely with university and national laboratory partners to support the design and simulation of large-scale quantum processor architectures.
These collaborations are set to significantly strengthen Singapore’s position as a leader in the global quantum technology landscape. Beyond accelerating technological breakthroughs, these partnerships will deliver benefits to both academia and industry, while also playing a vital role in educating the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers.
Dr. Eric T. Holland, General Manager, Keysight Quantum Engineering Solutions, said: “I am pleased to formalize this Master Research Collaboration Agreement on behalf of Keysight with the Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore, A*STAR, and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Singapore’s proactive leadership in emerging technologies sets a strong foundation, and the advancement of quantum computing to maturity depends on long-term partnerships that embrace calculated risks to drive breakthrough innovations.”
