Army picks Fortem’s AI-powered net-capture DroneHunter® interceptors to enhance defenses by safely removing hostile drones from the sky

LINDON, Utah: Fortem Technologies, a pioneer in radar-powered airspace security, today announced it has been awarded a three-year, $18 million contract by the United States Army to provide counter-drone solutions and support services at Army sites worldwide.

The contract underscores the Army’s commitment to strengthening defenses against the rapidly evolving threat of hostile and unauthorized drones. Under the agreement, Fortem will deliver equipment including the DroneHunter® interceptor, which can autonomously capture intruding drones safely with a net, and field-support services to help protect Army installations and operations.

Fortem has received the first order under the contract, valued at nearly $4 million.

“Protecting soldiers and materiel from the growing drone threat is one of the most urgent defense challenges of our time,” said Fortem Technologies CEO Jon Gruen. “This award highlights the U.S. Army’s trust in Fortem’s unique ability to move beyond detection and deliver safe, effective drone interception in real-world environments.”

The Army contract adds to a period of significant momentum for Fortem. In January, the Pentagon selected DroneHunter as its first purchase under the Replicator-2 initiative. Fortem also announced the first customer deliveries of the next-generation DroneHunter, and disclosed what is believed to be the industry’s first 5-on-5 autonomous drone swarm takedown – detecting, tracking, and neutralizing multiple hostile drones simultaneously with zero collateral damage. In February, Fortem secured a multimillion-dollar award from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to protect 2026 FIFA World Cup venues from drone threats.
