NEW YORK: TULU (tulu.io), the leading on-demand in-building rental amenity, announced that co-founder and CCO Yael Shemer has been named to Inc.'s Female Founders 500, an annual list celebrating women who demonstrate exceptional grit, innovation, and leadership in entrepreneurship.
Since co-founding TULU, Shemer has scaled the company from an MIT DesignX venture into a Series A-funded platform reshaping how residents access everyday items. Under her leadership, TULU has raised nearly $42 million, expanded to 65+ cities, and built a user base of 500,000+ worldwide. The on-demand rental platform lets residents access household items, from VR headsets to cleaning equipment by the hour, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy.
“What an honor to be recognized alongside women who are truly reshaping how the world works. I co-founded TULU because I believe our generation has both the tools and the responsibility to reimagine urban life.” said Yael Shemer, Cofounder and CCO. “When half a million people can borrow what they need instead of buying what they'll discard, that's not just convenience - that's progress. This recognition reminds me we're just getting started.”
An environmental entrepreneur with training from Columbia University and Harvard Business School, Shemer has presented at Wharton, MIT, and Stanford and was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in 2023.
"Yael is exactly the kind of founder you want building the future - she combines sharp commercial instincts with genuine environmental conviction," said Gideon Argov, General Partner and Founder of New Era. "Watching her and the team scale TULU from an idea into a global platform serving half a million people is a testament to her vision and relentless execution. This recognition is well deserved."
As TULU continues to expand its footprint and partner with leading property owners and operators, Shemer’s vision for sustainable urban living is becoming a reality for more communities around the world.
