Investment by Bon Secours Mercy Health venture arm supports the continued growth of Definity’s vendor-neutral platform, designed to modernize healthcare workforce management
COVINGTON, Ky.: Definity, a vendor-neutral healthcare workforce platform, today announced a $7 million Series A investment led by Accrete Health Partners, the digital venture arm of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH), with participation alongside other investors. The investment reflects a shared commitment to building technology designed for health systems, enabling greater visibility, flexibility, and control across internal and contingent labor. Definity will utilize the capital to scale the platform and expand its team.
Definity unifies critical workforce functions into a single, integrated platform, allowing hospitals and health systems to plan, source, and manage their talent more efficiently. By providing a single source of truth across labor pools, Definity gives health systems clear insight into workforce utilization and spend, optimizing workforce resources while maintaining quality of care. This investment comes at a pivotal time as health systems work to balance cost pressures, workforce sustainability, and evolving care delivery models.
“Health systems need workforce technology built for how care is actually delivered - not retrofitted from other industries,” said Kris Cannon, President of Definity. “This investment allows Definity to continue partnering closely with health systems like Bon Secours Mercy Health to innovate alongside them, expand our team, and deliver a world-class platform that gives leaders real-time insight and control over their most complex and costly challenge: labor.”
The investment includes a strategic partnership with BSMH, which will leverage Definity’s platform to better manage its contingent workforce and build a more flexible, data-driven labor strategy. As part of the investment, BSMH’s Chief People Officer Allan Calonge will join Definity’s board, strengthening alignment between platform development and health system workforce needs.
“We believe Definity can be a transformational platform for our hospitals, providing the transparency and flexibility we need to manage our workforce more strategically,” said Calonge. “Having a comprehensive view of our labor ecosystem allows us to make smarter decisions, control costs, and ensures we have the right talent in place to support our patients.”
“Definity represents the type of purpose-built, health system-designed innovation we look to support through Accrete Health Partners,” said Cyril Philip, Vice President of Digital Ventures at Bon Secours Mercy Health and Accrete Health Partners. “Being at the front end of their journey alongside BSMH operational leadership allows us to do more than invest; it gives us the opportunity to help shape a platform that simplifies workforce management and delivers measurable impact for health systems.”
Definity plans to accelerate product innovation and deepen partnerships with health systems nationwide.
