Acquisition of one of the UK's fastest-growing independent salon platforms marks a major step in DaySmart's mission to serve beauty professionals worldwide
ANN ARBOR, Mich.: DaySmart Software, a leading provider of business management solutions for entrepreneurs and small businesses, today announced the acquisition of Slick Software, one of the UK’s fastest-growing salon technology platforms. The acquisition marks a milestone in DaySmart’s global expansion and deepens its investment in the beauty and wellness sector.
Founded in 2017, Slick has quickly become one of the UK’s leading independent, non-marketplace salon platforms. Today, over 8,000 hair and beauty professionals rely on Slick. The platform is purpose-built to serve both employed and booth-rental salon business models.
Backed by L’Oréal via its corporate venture capital fund BOLD, Slick provides an end-to-end software platform that enables salons to manage bookings, payments, customer communications, marketing and financial reporting through a single system. Rather than operating as a marketplace that takes commission on bookings, Slick built infrastructure that allows salon owners to retain full ownership of their customer relationships, data and margins.
With the addition of Slick, DaySmart gains a strong foothold in the UK and adds a platform built specifically for the evolving needs of salon owners.
“The UK is one of the world’s strongest markets for independent salon businesses, and Slick has built a platform that’s deeply trusted by its customers and built on technology that stands out in the market,” said DaySmart CEO Pat Shanahan. “This acquisition strengthens DaySmart’s global position and gives us a powerful foundation to deliver even more innovation to beauty professionals around the world.”
The partnership accelerates DaySmart and Slick’s shared product ambitions. As part of the combined roadmap, the two companies are developing an AI-native business coach that analyzes real-time platform data - including booking patterns, client retention, service mix and payment trends - to deliver personalized, actionable recommendations to salon owners. Building on DaySmart’s existing Business Advisor tool and Slick’s rich industry data set, early AI features are planned to roll out to Slick users in Q2 2026, with broader capabilities to follow.
“For years, salon software was clunky, unreliable and expensive,” said Slick CEO and Co-Founder Steph Madgett. “We built Slick to change that, giving salon owners technology that actually works for them, not against them.”
“Joining DaySmart allows us to realize that vision at scale,” said Slick CCO and Co-Founder Rob Smith. “With a team of more than 50 people and thousands of professionals on the platform, this partnership enables us to move faster, innovate more deeply and support more salons globally.”
Under DaySmart’s ownership, Slick will continue to scale across the UK while exploring opportunities to expand into new international markets. Slick will benefit from DaySmart’s extensive payments expertise, established infrastructure and shared services to support its next stage of growth. Together, DaySmart and Slick are positioned to redefine what salon technology can deliver for independent beauty professionals worldwide.
