SNOQUALMIE, Wash.: Spacelabs Healthcare today announced that it has signed an agreement with DEPTH Health, Inc., a leader in patient traffic flow optimization technology, that will allow DEPTH Health to provide hospitals and health systems the Rothman Index® through its DEPTH’s Real-Time Advisor for Clinical Expert Routing (RACER™) offering. Spacelabs Healthcare’s Rothman Index is an advanced application that is designed to help healthcare providers identify subtle changes in a patient’s condition in the hospital, allowing doctors and nurses to intervene before patients show signs of declining.
“As we were evaluating best-in-class systems that could complement the DEPTH RACER platform, the Rothman Index really stood out,” said Alan Portela, Co-Founder and CEO of DEPTH Health. “The system’s ability to detect subtle changes in a patient’s condition can help healthcare providers make faster, more informed decisions about a patient’s status and the level of care they need. These actionable insights assist caregivers in quickly deciding when a patient needs more intensive care or is ready for the step-down unit, which ultimately helps hospitals improve patient traffic flow and optimize every bed.”
The Rothman Index incorporates 26 different clinical data points, including labs, vital signs and nurse assessments from a patient’s electronic health record (EHR) and calculates how sick a person is using a proprietary predictive analytics model. The Index continuously tracks a patient’s condition and provides a visual overview based on a 200-point scale that can help clinicians quickly identify when a person is improving or getting sicker.
“The agreement between Spacelabs Healthcare and DEPTH Health will facilitate patient access to the care they need while hospitals and health systems can take advantage of a system that helps them evaluate their most pressing patient care challenges,” said Wilson Constantine, President of Spacelabs Healthcare. “The Rothman Index was developed to empower healthcare providers to deliver exceptional care and improve treatment, and the recognition it continues to receive for its lifesaving capabilities is a testament to the emphasis Spacelabs Healthcare places on developing technology that pushes the bounds of patient care.”
