The national leading homestead administration solution is now a System of Action platform, supporting all document workflows to eliminate the most manual and tedious tasks for tax assessment offices.
CHICAGO: TrueRoll, a technology company built specifically for property tax assessment offices, recently announced a significant evolution in its platform. Formerly focused solely on homestead administration, the company is now a unified AI-powered system of action that automates all document-related workflows for tax assessment offices.
“We founded TrueRoll around the kitchen table with one mission: make the work of tax assessment offices easier," said TrueRoll CEO Tyler Masterson. "Fast forward to 2023-when AI finally became capable of performing real work -we knew there was an opportunity to help integrate it natively into government workflows.”
The company's first major innovation, Proactive Monitoring, addressed an issue that had long frustrated assessors: determining homestead exemption eligibility. The process was so complex that many counties outsourced one-time audits to law firms. But because eligibility changes happen frequently, audits went stale soon after completion. TrueRoll solved this with a continuous monitoring solution that matches thousands of datasets to homestead eligibility criteria to track changes soon after they occur.
“Our customers began asking whether those same datasets could validate new homestead applications,” Masterson said. “So we built Application Vetter to process new applications, and leverage AI to process messy handwritten and identification document scanned image data against office-specific business rules.”
Scaling that solution to manage tens of thousands of paper applications for major appraisal districts, including Harris CAD, Dallas CAD, and Tarrant CAD, required an AI-native solution to read and process poorly handwritten forms, match names to ID photos, and handle real-world document messiness that older tools couldn’t manage.
That capability led TrueRoll to its next innovation in property transfer automation while working with Tarrant CAD and McHenry County, Illinois. The platform goes deep into LLM capabilities by using document clustering to automatically categorize transfer documents, AI-powered OCR to extract key data, and clever prompt engineering to flag complicated transfers requiring expert staff review, ultimately saving time, identifying possible fraud, and committing results to CAMA with minimal manual intervention.
Homestead administration automation wasn't a special case. It was a forcing function-the hardest version of the problem first, which made everything that followed possible.
TrueRoll is a system of action, purpose-built to work alongside CAMA, handling every document-initiated workflow in an assessment office: categorization, interpretation, extraction, routing, and exception handling, all configured to office-specific rules. Data moves once. Exceptions rise to the top. Staff isn’t processing documents, they're managing intelligent processes and serving taxpayers.
The market response has been immediate. Before the platform's official launch, eleven assessment offices have already signed on, signaling pent-up demand for a solution purpose-built around how assessment offices actually work.
