Quadrupeds Lead in Real Adoption, Humanoids Win in Capital and Policy

SAN FRANCISCO: Smart Analytics Global (SAG) today released its latest Humanoid and Quadruped Robot Vendor Shipments and Market Share Forecast reports, covering global shipment volume, trade wholesale revenue and ASP, and vendor market share from 2024 through 2030.

SAG estimates that global humanoid and quadruped robot shipments reached nearly 53,000 units in 2025, growing 250% year over year. Humanoid robots accounted for 31% of shipments, while quadruped robots made up 69%. Trade wholesale revenue reached US$1 billion, nearly doubling from 2024. By 2030, SAG expects shipments to scale to 810,000 units and revenue to reach US$8 billion, sustaining a strong double-digit CAGR.

Growth across both segments has been largely supply-driven, supported by maturing supply chains, advances in Physical AI, and strong capital and policy backing. Chinese vendors accounted for 85% of shipments in 2025, with China absorbing over 60% of demand, while the US and Europe made up most of the remainder. While exploration and validation drove early volumes, this segment is nearing a ceiling. Industrial and enterprise adoption will power the next phase of growth.

“The robotics industry delivered strong growth in 2025, but the real test lies ahead,” said Yiwen Wu, Lead Research Advisor at Smart Analytics Global. “Enterprise adoption will be the key. Only vendors that can scale real-world deployments will define the next phase of the industry.”

SAG believes quadruped robots are leading in real-world adoption today, supported by clearer use cases and commercialization paths. Humanoid robots, however, are attracting greater capital and policy support-especially in China-driven by their long-term potential, even as large-scale deployment remains early.

Chinese vendor Unitree Robotics remained the clear leader across both segments in 2025, capturing 34% share in humanoid robots and a dominant 67% in quadruped robots. Other key players include Agibot, DOBOT and Galbot, reflecting strong momentum among China-based vendors. Meanwhile, Boston Dynamics entered the top five in the quadruped segment, though its share remains relatively niche.

Chinese vendors are leveraging manufacturing scale to drive early adoption, while Western players such as Boston Dynamics, Ghost Robotics, Tesla, and Amazon are leading in software, AI, and advanced R&D. South Korea is ramping up investment, while Europe maintains an edge in certification and safety for high-value niches. The result is a fragmented but complementary market, where hardware, software, and regulation each shape the path to leadership.

“We expect consolidation pressure to intensify from 2027, especially among vendors that expanded capacity ahead of proven demand,” said Linda Sui, Founder of Smart Analytics Global. “At the same time, regional dynamics are diverging, potentially leading to two increasingly separate ecosystems over time.”
