The newest addition to the Apptegy platform gives district staff a single hub for internal communication - and gives leaders the visibility to know what's landing and what's not.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.: Apptegy, the K-12 communications platform behind more than 5,250 school district brands nationwide, today announced Staff Connect, a staff communication hub built from the ground up for school districts. Launching this spring, Staff Connect becomes the third pillar of the Apptegy platform - joining the company's outbound family communication and inbound community experience tools to now cover internal staff communication under one roof.

Most school districts today manage internal communication scattered across Google Sites, SharePoint pages, shared drives, and long email chains. These tools were designed to store files, not to connect people. They're difficult for non-technical staff to maintain, they don't reflect how a school district is actually organized, and they give leaders little insight into whether a critical update was read by five people or five hundred. Staff Connect was built to solve that problem.

"Districts have been piecing together generic tools that were never designed for how schools operate," said Bob Butler, CEO of Apptegy. "Staff Connect gives every staff member one place they can trust for internal communication, and it gives every leader a clear line of sight into whether that communication is actually reaching people."

The Problem: Scattered Tools, No Visibility

For years, internal communication in K-12 has been treated as an afterthought. District IT teams spend valuable time stitching together workarounds that mimic the functionality of a real intranet, and the result still falls short.

  • Staff waste time hunting across multiple platforms for the information they need, with no single source of truth to rely on.
  • Leaders push out all-staff updates and have no way to tell whether anyone actually read them.
  • The tools districts typically reach for, such as static web pages, file repositories, general-purpose collaboration suites, have no concept of a campus, a building principal, or a department head with delegated posting authority.

Staff Connect: Engagement-First and K-12 Native

Staff Connect sits inside the Apptegy platform that districts already know. At its core, Staff Connect is a live announcement feed and centralized resource hub - giving every staff member one place to engage with updates and access every document, asset, and piece of collateral tied to their space. Staff can react to and comment on posts, turning what used to be one-way broadcasts into actual conversations, while having instant access to the policies, handbooks, forms, and department materials that matter to them. It's a meaningful shift: staff participate instead of scrolling past, leaders can see exactly who engaged and who didn't, and nothing gets lost in a shared drive again.

The product also includes direct staff-to-staff messaging built natively into the platform, so internal conversations no longer have to route through personal email or disconnected apps. Spaces can be organized by district, campus, building, or department - reflecting the way K-12 organizations actually work, right out of the box. A building principal can post to a campus-specific space without flooding the district feed. A department head can maintain resources for their team without submitting a ticket to IT.

Directors and department leads can also stand up organized resource hubs using the same drag-and-drop CMS page builder that powers Apptegy's district websites. That means staff get one maintained home for policies, benefits information, forms, curriculum materials, and department content - no more digging through shared drives or outdated intranet pages. And behind all of it, engagement analytics give leaders real-time data on who read, reacted to, and commented on every post. For the first time, internal communication in K-12 is something you can actually measure.

Closing the District Communication Loop

Staff Connect means Apptegy now spans every direction of district communication: outbound to families, inbound from the community, and internal across staff - all on one platform, behind a single login. Districts that already rely on Apptegy for family and community communication can extend that same trusted experience to their own teams without onboarding another vendor or managing another tool.

No other K-12 intranet product offers this depth of platform integration. Staff Connect is the only engagement-first, purpose-built solution designed specifically for how school districts communicate internally.

"Staff Connect has been our most-requested capability in recent months," said Charlie Lang, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Apptegy. "But what districts kept describing wasn't just another tool. They wanted a fundamentally different way to communicate with their own internal teams. We built Staff Connect to turn static pages into a living hub where communication is visible, measurable, and actually drives engagement across every building in a district."
