SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va.: Madhur Bedre, founder and owner of Atlas Prediction Control LLC, has been named West Virginia’s Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), recognizing his leadership in building an innovative, fast-growing company rooted in Appalachia.
Bedre was honored during National Small Business Week, held May 3rd–9th, that included, a national awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on May 3rd and a statewide ceremony in Fairmont on May 6th.
“It is a true honor to be named West Virginia’s Small Business Person of the Year,” said Bedre. “Growing up in a small town in India and now building my vision in a small town in West Virginia speaks to the power of small places.”
Founded in 2020, Atlas Prediction Control provides advanced process control and optimization solutions for the chemical industry, helping companies improve operations through data-driven decision-making and emerging artificial intelligence technologies.
In the next phase, Atlas Prediction is looking to support the chemical industry through AI-powered solutions and developing their new AI product, Atlas Advisor.
“As the chemical industry experienced one of its most significant slowdowns in decades, we saw an opportunity to rethink how we deliver value,” Bedre said. “That moment has driven our next phase of growth, focused on developing AI-powered solutions that bring predictive intelligence to plant operations and help manufacturers optimize performance, improve reliability, and navigate increasingly complex market conditions.”
Bedre credits much of his success to West Virginia’s strong network of business resources. His work with organizations including the West Virginia Small Business Development Center, Charleston Area Alliance, West Virginia Regional Technology Park, and the University of Charleston has provided critical support as Atlas expanded to an international platform.
Each year, the SBA celebrates National Small Business Week by recognizing the achievements of outstanding small business owners and entrepreneurs across the United States.
