The Broadband Infrastructure Project Ensures More Rural Floridians Can Access America’s Smartest Converged WiFi Network

HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla.: Comcast announced a major milestone today in the company’s continued efforts to bring rural Floridians fast, reliable connectivity. Xfinity and Comcast Business services are now available to more than 4,000 homes and businesses in Highlands County including more than 1,800 previously unserved locations.

Families and entrepreneurs now have access to high-speed Internet from America’s smartest and most reliable converged network. Xfinity brings Internet, mobile, entertainment, and smart home services into one simple, seamless solution – giving customers more speed, savings, and control over their connected lives. Highlands County now joins the 65 million homes and businesses nationwide with access to a network that fuels innovation, productivity, and everyday connection.

This summer, construction will continue expanding the network to more than 1,200 additional locations in Highlands County, with completion expected by the end of 2026. The broadband infrastructure project was made possible thanks to a public-private partnership with the state of Florida’s Broadband Opportunity Program and Capital Projects Fund.
