ELLICOTT CITY, Md.: HCIactive today introduced Human Experience Engineering (HXE), the discipline guiding how the company uses AI to reduce administrative friction and create healthcare experiences that are simpler, more understandable, and easier to access and manage.
Healthcare administration is extraordinarily complex. Behind routine interactions are layers of systems, processes, rules, decisions, audits, transactions, and manual work. Too often, that complexity is passed on to the members, providers, employers, brokers, and administrators navigating healthcare.
HCIactive believes AI creates an opportunity to change that.
Rather than asking people to navigate more software, portals, workflows, and disconnected systems, AI can take on more of the administrative work behind healthcare-from processing and auditing to automation and coordination. As AI handles more of that complexity behind the scenes, healthcare organizations can rethink how people access information, make decisions, manage benefits, and get things done.
That is the role of Human Experience Engineering.
HXE identifies friction between people and healthcare administration and guides how technology and AI are designed around the human experience. Its purpose is not to remove people from healthcare, but to remove unnecessary complexity from their experience of it.
“Healthcare administration has become incredibly complex. AI gives us the opportunity to automate that complexity and make healthcare simpler for everyone,” said Henry Cha, CEO of HCIactive. “For administrators, that means more time to focus on service, care, and the people they support. For members, it means healthcare that is easier to understand and access. That is what Human Experience Engineering is about.”
HXE formalizes an approach HCIactive has followed throughout its product development: identify administrative friction, determine what work technology can take on, and design a simpler way for people to interact with the result.
Solutions including Agentic TPA, Insurance Dark Factory, and HealthSpace Agentic Studio reflect this approach, using AI to handle and coordinate administrative work across systems while creating a simpler, more unified human experience.
The goal is not AI for the sake of AI. As AI becomes increasingly capable across healthcare administration, HCIactive believes the defining question will shift from “What can AI automate?” to “What should the human experience of healthcare become?”
Human Experience Engineering is HCIactive's answer.
About HCIactive
HCIactive builds technology designed to reduce the administrative complexity of healthcare.
Through Human Experience Engineering, HCIactive identifies friction across healthcare administration and designs experiences that make complex systems easier for people to understand and use. Behind those experiences, governed AI can automate, coordinate, process, and audit administrative work across the healthcare insurance lifecycle.
HCIactive's HealthSpace Agentic Studio provides the technology foundation for this approach, connecting administrative processes across benefits management, member engagement, compliance, wellness, and related operations.
The result is not technology that replaces the people who operate healthcare. It is technology that takes on more of the administrative burden so people can focus on the decisions, relationships, and outcomes that matter.
HCIactive is engineering a simpler human experience for healthcare.
