SYDNEY: #AI--Cars24 today announced the appointment of Chris Sponiar to lead its Australia business, as the company accelerates its next phase of growth in one of the world's most competitive automotive retail markets.

Australia's second-hand car market is evolving rapidly. Customers increasingly expect the same transparency, convenience and confidence from buying a car that they receive across the rest of retail. Cars24 entered Australia with a simple belief: Australians don't need another place to buy a second-hand car, they need a better way to do it.

Every vehicle sold through Cars24 is curated with quality at its core. Cars undergo rigorous quality checks and a comprehensive 300-point inspection before reaching customers, with every purchase backed by Australia's first 30-day return policy. Together with transparent pricing and a seamless online experience, Cars24 has built a proposition designed to give Australians greater confidence every time they buy a second-hand car.

Chris will lead Cars24 Australia's evolution from a high-growth challenger into a scaled, national retail business, with responsibility for accelerating customer adoption, strengthening the company's operating model and building the leadership capability required for its long-term ambitions in Australia.

Chris brings years of experience building and scaling consumer businesses across the US, Europe and Australia. His career as an operator includes leadership roles at Walmart and eCommerce challenger Jet.com, as well as a number of other VC-backed eCommerce and fintech startups. He has also backed high-growth companies as an investor with Unilever's corporate venture arm, Unilever Ventures, and more recently has advised Australian consumer brands including Temple & Webster, Baby Bunting, Oroton and RM Williams.

"Chris has a rare combination of qualities. He's operated billion-dollar businesses, worked alongside founders through high-growth phases and advised some of Australia's strongest consumer brands. But what stood out to me wasn't the breadth of his experience. It was how consistently he came back to the customer. Every conversation was about making the business simpler, faster and more trustworthy. That's the kind of thinking that built Cars24, and it's the kind of leadership we want as we continue building in Australia," said Vikram Chopra, Founder, Cars24.

Founded in 2015, Cars24 has grown into one of the world's largest AI-native automotive ecosystems, operating across India, Australia and the UAE. Today, AI underpins everything from pricing and inspections to customer support and internal operations, helping the company deliver a faster, more consistent customer experience while continually improving how the business operates.

“What drew me to Cars24 is the global scale of the business, the strength of the technology and team behind it, and the customer trust and differentiation they have built in this market. Cars24 has built a proposition around removing uncertainty from one of life's biggest purchases, and I believe that opportunity is still in its early days. The more predictable, transparent and straightforward we can make that experience, the more relevant Cars24 becomes to Australian customers. I am excited to be building it here," said Chris.

Cars24 will continue investing in technology, AI, retail operations and customer experience as it expands across Australia, with the ambition of becoming the country's most trusted platform for buying and selling second-hand cars.
