AssetHub expands to all companies as WorkspaceData reaches general availability amid growing AI demand for real-world company data

SANTA MONICA, Calif.: SimpleClosure, the industry standard for responsible company shutdowns, today announced the expansion of AssetHub, its platform for helping companies monetize valuable assets including source code and operational data. After launching earlier this year, AssetHub is on track to return more than $10 million to venture-backed startups by the end of 2026.

As part of the expansion, SimpleClosure is opening AssetHub beyond its dissolution customers to companies at any stage, including those that are operating, pivoting, winding down or discontinuing a product line. WorkspaceData, which helps companies monetize operational data for AI training, is also moving from beta to general availability.

“Founders and their teams pour years of creativity, hard work and capital into building companies. Not every company will become the outcome they envisioned, but the work they created along the way can still be incredibly valuable,” said Dori Yona, founder and CEO of SimpleClosure. “AI has created an entirely new market for that work, and we see a huge opportunity to help founders and investors capture value that historically would have been left behind. Now, we’re opening that opportunity to every company, whether they’re growing, pivoting or shutting down.”

AssetHub connects companies with a vetted network of strategic buyers, including leading AI foundation labs and post-training companies building reinforcement learning environments. The platform currently supports two primary asset categories:

  • SourceCode: Git repositories, ticketing systems, product documentation and production codebases.
  • WorkspaceData: Operational data including communications, workflows and documents that capture how teams worked, made decisions and built products over time.

WorkspaceData first launched in beta in April. Since then, SimpleClosure has developed its systems for data extraction, de-identification and delivery while seeing growing interest from AI companies seeking real-world data that captures not just the output of work, but how that work actually happened.

The move to general availability comes as AI developers increasingly seek this type of real-world company data to train and improve models. WorkspaceData can preserve the context behind complex work - including how decisions were made, projects evolved and teams arrived at outcomes - while giving companies another way to recover value from assets they have already created.

SimpleClosure is also releasing its first analysis of the emerging market for company data, “What Are Your Assets Worth,” examining the characteristics that can make company data valuable, what AI buyers are seeking and how licensed data can be used for model training.

Demand for AssetHub has accelerated from both sellers and AI buyers. To date:

  • AssetHub is on track to return more than $10 million to venture-backed startups by the end of 2026.
  • 350+ companies: AssetHub has supported more than 350 companies, with assets spanning approximately 500 million lines of code across roughly 3,000 repositories, 1.7 million commits, 200,000 pull requests and 3,200 contributors.
  • 9X buyer growth: The number of AI buyers has grown 9X compared with 2025, including top foundation labs and companies building reinforcement learning environments.
  • 10X seller adoption: The proportion of SimpleClosure dissolution customers listing assets on AssetHub has grown 10X since Q1 2026.

Companies accessing AssetHub receive an asset viability assessment, buyer matching and support throughout the transaction. Sellers submit information about their assets to SimpleClosure, which evaluates their potential marketability. With the seller’s approval, qualified assets are surfaced to SimpleClosure’s buyer network, and SimpleClosure manages the process through matching, documentation, receipt and distribution of proceeds.

Privacy is built into AssetHub’s data collection, verification, audit and selling process. Before data is made available, assets undergo a multi-pass de-identification protocol designed to detect and replace personal and sensitive information, including names, emails, credentials, keys and customer identifiers. Because SimpleClosure works directly with sellers, it can also confirm chain of title and use purpose-built lists of affiliated individuals as an additional detection layer. Sensitive employee and health records, as well as any information sellers designate as out of scope, are not sold.

“The evolution of AssetHub reflects what we’re hearing from both sides of the market,” said Yona. “Companies are looking for more ways to capture value from what they’ve built, while AI developers are looking for real-world data that can help their models learn how work actually gets done. We believe selling valuable assets should become a normal part of the venture-backed ecosystem, whether a company is closing its doors, changing direction or simply moving on to what’s next.”

AssetHub remains free for SimpleClosure dissolution customers and is now available to other established companies.
