NEW YORK: MDCalc, the physician-owned clinical decision support platform used by millions of healthcare professionals annually to assess their patients, today announced Ryan Olohan as Head of Sales, a newly created role focused on expanding MDCalc's commercial partnerships and supporting the company's next phase of progress.
MDCalc is celebrating its 20th anniversary with growth in mind – refining its clinical data, launching new initiatives, and extending its team in order to expand the MDCalc partnership model that allows physicians anywhere to efficiently access over 800 clinical decision tools in the palm of their hand for free.
“We’ve earned the trust of fellow clinicians by providing critical decision tools at the point of care, and that relationship is the foundation of MDCalc,” said Joe Habboushe, CEO of MDCalc. “That foundation is drawing talent like Ryan to us at exactly the right time. As we think about what comes next, we see an opportunity to build new partnerships that sustain that model while allowing us to support clinicians in new ways. Ryan understands healthcare, technology, and brands at an incredibly deep level, and he's exactly the kind of leader who can help us do that.”
Olohan brings decades of experience building and leading commercial organizations across technology, healthcare, consulting, and digital media. He spent 16 years at Google, including serving as Managing Director for Healthcare, where he helped transform the company’s Pharma & OTC business. In that role, Olohan and his teams worked with many of the world’s largest life sciences companies to leverage platforms and capabilities across Google and Alphabet. He also founded the Google Healthcare Advisory Board and co-authored Pharma 3D, developed in partnership with Google, McKinsey, and Wharton.
Prior to joining MDCalc, Olohan also served as Executive Vice President of Partnerships at Klick Health. His healthcare leadership has been recognized by MM&M, which named him a Top 40 Healthcare Transformer, and PRWeek, which twice named him among its Top 50 Healthcare Influencers.
Outside of his day job, Ryan, his wife, and seven children run a coffee/ice cream shop called Seven Scoops & Sips that donates the proceeds to local and global causes while also employing people with disabilities.
“Once Ryan’s experience met our vision, we knew there was real synergy,” said Swarna Chatterjee, Chief Commercial Officer at MDCalc. “He brings a rare combination of healthcare expertise, commercial leadership, and an understanding of how to build partnerships that create value for both physicians and industry. As a team, we’re ready to expand our outlook and build on our commercial organization and partnerships to advance into our next phase of growth.”
“There are very few healthcare organizations that have earned the kind of daily trust MDCalc has with clinicians,” said Olohan. “What excites me is the mission – doing what’s right and what works for clinicians and their patients – by showing how choosing and using the right clinical algorithms arms them with the knowledge they need to best treat each unique patient they take care of – which is what this is all about.”
Olohan will report to Swarna Chatterjee and joins MDCalc effective immediately.
