The sisters lead MacKenzie Corporation, the research and insights firm founded by their father more than 40 years ago. That experience gives them a foundation in understanding people, behavior, customer expectations, and how organizations respond to change. Their work as Certified Futurists takes that thinking a step further.

“Research helps us understand what is happening today,” said Rucker. “Strategic foresight helps us explore what could happen tomorrow. Strategic foresight examines emerging signals, patterns, and forces of change and considers how they might interact to create different possible futures. Rather than developing a strategy around a single forecast, organizations can explore multiple scenarios and identify risks, opportunities, and decisions that might otherwise be overlooked. The goal isn’t to replace traditional strategic planning; it’s to make it more resilient.

Why Futurist Thinking Matters Now

The approach is particularly relevant as organizations confront changes that are difficult to evaluate using historical experience alone.

Artificial intelligence is perhaps the most visible example. Technology is advancing faster than many organizations can determine how it should be used, what it will mean for their workforce and customers, and where human judgment will remain essential.
