Recognition follows a year in which Nym expanded its AI-powered autonomous medical coding engine across new specialties and health systems, and set out to define how AI in medical coding should be evaluated and governed.

NEW YORK: Nym, a leader in AI-powered autonomous medical coding, today announced it has been named to TIME's World's Top HealthTech Companies of 2026 for the second consecutive year.

The list, produced by TIME in partnership with Statista, names 500 companies worldwide across six segments that use digital technology to make healthcare more effective and accessible. Companies were scored on financial performance, reputation analysis, and online engagement.

The health systems using Nym have results to show for it. Inova, whose emergency departments handle more than 500,000 visits a year, reported a $1.3 million reduction in annual ED coding costs, a 50 percent decrease in weekly revenue sitting in ED DNFB, and the promotion of four ED coders into higher-complexity work after implementing Nym’s AI-powered autonomous coding engine. At Genesis HealthCare System, Nym’s engine codes ~70 percent of all ED volume with no human intervention, and Genesis’s HIM team has used the freed up capacity to train coders for higher-complexity specialties.

This type of impact is the result of years of work. Nym was applying AI to medical coding long before it became a healthcare mandate, and its Clinical Language Understanding (CLU) technology is specifically built to translate clinical documentation into accurate medical codes in seconds and with no human intervention. Every encounter Nym codes is backed by an audit trail that maps each assigned code to the supporting documentation and guidelines, so health systems can verify the engine's work and automate with confidence.

"We're genuinely proud to be named to TIME's list for a second year," said Lori M. Jones, Nym's CEO. "Medical coding has been one of the most opaque, manual problems in healthcare administration, and health systems like Inova and Genesis are showing it doesn't have to be. Their coding teams are moving into more complex work, cash is moving faster, and their leaders can see the reasoning behind every code. That kind of visibility is how AI earns trust in healthcare, not something you can just claim. That is the result of years of work by our team, and it is why I believe change in this industry can happen a lot faster than most people expect."
