Domethics' smart home offering debuts at CES 2022

At CES 2022, Domethics will introduce Adriano, a solution that turns any smartphone into a smart home gateway

Startups

Italian software house Domethicsbusiness is made mainly by products and consultancy for IoT applications. But at CES 2022 the Italian innovative company will officially introduce Adriano, its first Smart Home solution. It is a mix of IoT device, mobile app and cloud platform that turns any smartphone (or tablet, or Smart TV) into a IoT gateway, to connect together multiple Smart Home devices. The first batch of Adriano units will be crowdfunfed via Kickstarter, an approach that more an more innovative companies use to promote their products.

Adriano can manage any smart device using Zigbee, Z-wave, Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi and 4G/5G communications, says Domethics. Users can interact with the system using a dedicated app, but also with vocal commands or gestures. The device also monitors remotely what's happening in a house or office. And can be used to manage smart devices like thermostats, heating and ligthing systems, power outlets. Using Adriano and the right mix of compatible devices, says Domethics, it is possible to save up to 30% in energy costs.

Energy control is just one of the use cases Domethics imagines for Adriano. The platform is designed also for home automation scenarios. And can support some basic digital health applications based on remote monitoring.

Adriano is made from recycled plastic and eco-friendly materials. And it itself is a circular economy factor, in some way. With Adriano, even old and technologically obsolete devices can be used as Smart Home gateways. Thus, their lifecycle is longer: less planned obsolescence, less money spent, less ewaste. This is, maybe, one of the reasons why Adriano already got a CES award: it's been selectesd as Innovation Award Honoree 2022 for the Smart Home category (where Domethics is the only Italian company to participate).
