MARINA DEL REY, Calif.: Please replace the release with the following corrected version due to multiple revisions.

The updated release reads:

SIFT LAUNCHES EDGE TO CAPTURE TELEMETRY IN THE HARSHEST TEST ENVIRONMENTS

Full-fidelity Sift now runs right where the hardware is tested, keeping every measurement through an outage and syncing to Sift on demand.

When a signal drifts or a component spikes during a test out in the Mojave, a bad network connection isn't just an inconvenience-it's a liability. When running high-stakes hardware tests, waiting on cloud latency or fighting a spotty cellular uplink can mean the difference between aborting safely or losing a multi-million-dollar asset and losing months of schedule. You need immediate, high-throughput access to your telemetry right on the test stand so operators can make split-second decisions before a failure escalates.

Sift, the data infrastructure platform for mission-critical hardware, solves this with Sift Edge, built to run right at the hardware in aerospace and defense test environments. It takes the platform Sift built for the cloud and makes it deployable at the test site itself. Edge captures every measurement even as the network drops, then syncs to Sift when a link returns.

Until now, the common fallback was a second, homegrown stack of open-source databases, dashboards, and custom scripts, kept alive only to survive outages. Sift Edge removes the need for that second stack by running fully offline on a single machine, with no cluster and no extra services. It writes streaming telemetry to local disk the moment it arrives, so nothing is lost when the network drops, and a native desktop app shows that data live and lets engineers query it the instant it is recorded.

Anyone on the test network can connect to the same instance and see the channels they care about. Teams decide what syncs to Sift and when, which matters when a test stand produces far more data than a team wants to pay to move, most of it development data seen once. Anything a team has already built on Sift runs on Edge unchanged, because it uses the same APIs as Sift.

And because Edge captures at full fidelity from the first moment, teams keep a complete record of every test, the ground truth that engineering and the AI built on it both depend on.

“Tests are expensive and some can never be repeated, yet they run in environments with no network at all, or in safety critical operations that need guaranteed millisecond latency, not fast on average,” said Austin Spiegel, Co-Founder and CEO of Sift. “Sift Edge puts full-fidelity capture, live viewing, and query right at the hardware, and it moves us a layer closer to the machine, talking directly to DAQs and the instruments generating the data.”

Sift built Edge as a Rust application for macOS, Windows, and Linux, light enough to run on a Raspberry Pi. Its store-and-forward design keeps a durable local record first, then syncs to the cloud when a link exists.

“With Sift Edge, I was able to build a Prometheus-to-Sift bridge in 12 minutes,” said Will Pressly, Lead Engineer at CX2. “Shortly after, we had live thermal telemetry from our drone components flowing into Sift from our development HITL system.”

Sift Edge is available at request for the teams building the most complex machines in aerospace, defense, robotics, and energy. Learn more at siftstack.com.
