Vantor’s Maritime Sentry solution will provide AI-powered vessel detections, imagery and data for NIWC’s work supporting the Indian Navy and regional partners

WESTMINSTER, Colo.: Vantor, the leader in unified spatial intelligence, announced it has been awarded a contract by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific to deliver maritime intelligence capabilities supporting missions across the Indo-Pacific.

The contract will support NIWC Pacific’s work with the Indian Navy and regional partners participating in the Indo-Pacific Partnership for Maritime Domain Awareness, or IPMDA. Launched by Australia, India, Japan and the United States, IPMDA is designed to strengthen regional awareness of maritime activity through commercial technology, training and information sharing.

Under the contract, Vantor will deliver Maritime Sentry™, its multi-source maritime intelligence solution that runs on Vantor’s Tensorglobe™ platform, to help users detect, identify and monitor vessel activity across thousands of square kilometers of ocean. Maritime Sentry combines AI-powered vessel fingerprinting with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electro-optical (EO) satellite imagery to support repeat vessel detections and help maintain custody of vessels of interest over time. This capability can help track “dark vessels” that turn off, manipulate or never transmit Automatic Identification System (AIS) signals by identifying ships based on characteristics visible in satellite imagery. The solution also provides image chips and associated metadata that can be made available directly within operational workflows.

Vantor will deliver those insights through an application programming interface (API), enabling the Indian Navy and participating partner nations to directly access Vantor’s data in the maritime systems they already use. Those systems include SeaVision, a U.S. government application used to view, share and correlate maritime information from multiple sources, as well as a separate Indian Navy system.

“The challenge in an operating environment as vast and complex as the Indian Ocean isn’t simply collecting more data; it’s identifying what matters and getting trusted information to operators in time to act,” said Will Cocos, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Vantor’s U.S. Government business. “Maritime Sentry delivers insights directly into the systems partners already use, helping them build a more current picture of vessel activity across large areas of ocean. We’re proud to support NIWC Pacific, the Indian Navy and regional partners in strengthening maritime awareness across the Indo-Pacific.”

The Maritime Sentry subscription includes dedicated program management, technical exchanges and support for both routine and emergency satellite collections. The contract also provides a vehicle for Vantor and NIWC Pacific to evaluate and introduce additional capabilities as mission requirements evolve.
