Fifth Point of Presence in Toronto will provide additional connectivity options to enterprises throughout Ontario

TORONTO: Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Coloware YTZ-1 data center. The new PoP is located at 151 Front Street, Suite 504, Toronto, ON, M5J 2N1, Canada.

Coloware YTZ-1 is located in Canada’s largest and most interconnected carrier hotel, with access to hundreds of providers and TorIX, Canada’s largest Internet exchange. With 2,000 square feet of fully built-out whitespace, this data center is strategically located to serve customers in and around Toronto. The facility is approximately 20km from Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Toronto is the most populous province in Canada and one that produces more than half of the country’s manufactured goods. Toronto is a center of finance, media, and is home to the largest tech hub in Canada. It is also one of the largest start-up hubs in North America, with world-class colleges and universities and immigration-friendly policies.

This Tier III+ data center space has two utility feeds with N, N+1, and 2N power options, Enwave Deep Lake Water Cooling System with redundant chilled water loops, on-site security 24x7x365, and redundant multi-zone VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus). It has private pods, secure cabinets, and meet-me rooms with dedicated fiber connections. Coloware guarantees 100% uptime and is ISO 27001 certified.

The PoP is Hurricane Electric’s fifth in Toronto and 20th in Canada. It will improve fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services to businesses in all of Ontario.

“We are excited about this partnership with Coloware,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “This new PoP brings critical high-speed connectivity to customers in and near Toronto and improves their access to the global network.”

Customers of Coloware and in and around Toronto, ON, Canada have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility can exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 40,000 BGP sessions with over 10,000 different networks via more than 310 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.

About Hurricane Electric

Hurricane Electric operates its own global IPv4 and IPv6 network and is considered the largest IPv6 backbone in the world. Within its global network, Hurricane Electric is connected to more than 310 major exchange points and exchanges traffic directly with more than 10,000 different networks. Employing a resilient fiber-optic topology, Hurricane Electric has five redundant 100G paths crossing North America, four separate 100G paths between the U.S. and Europe, and 100G rings in Europe, Australia and Asia. Hurricane also has a ring around Africa, and a PoP in Auckland, NZ. Hurricane Electric offers IPv4 and IPv6 transit solutions over the same connection. Connection speeds available include 100GE (100 gigabits/second), 10GE, and gigabit ethernet. Additional information can be found at http://he.net.
