Company Initiates Four-Day Work Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.: RainTech clients and staff will benefit from fundamental changes in the company’s operating model as the company embraces its ‘People, period’ ethos.

The managed services and cybersecurity company announced it is implementing a four-day workweek following a successful pilot program. The initiative is part of RainTech’s ‘People, period ethos – reinforcing its commitment to people – employees and clients – as the company’s singular focus.

The company conducted a pilot of the 32-hour work week in Q3, identifying improvements across the board, said Andrew Jahnke, CEO of RainTech. He said employee Net Promoter Scores (eNPS) indicated improved employee morale, while customer satisfaction scores (CSAT) and service times for clients improved when they contacted the company’s service desk.

“Our four-day pilot allowed us to explore a future where well-rested, empowered individuals deliver sharper results,” said Jahnke. “The data confirms it - and global research backs up our experience - that a condensed week will become the new standard at RainTech.”

All departments, including the service desk, security operations, engineering, projects, administration, and third-party vendors, will participate in the four-day work week. Salaries and benefits will remain unchanged, and impact will be continually monitored using client ticket resolution times, net promoter scores, employee engagement surveys, as well as key financial indicators compared to baseline data from previous quarters.

Evidence indicates meaningful gains in compressed work schedules. A 2023 UK trial with 61 companies found a 57 percent reduction in employee turnover and an average revenue increase of 35 percent, while employees worked one less day per week. Ninety-two percent of the participating companies kept the four-day schedule after the study ended. (Source: 4dayweek.com)

People, period’ in Action

The new operating model is being embraced by the company’s 27 employees who work in the Colorado Springs office and remotely.

“The 32-hour work week has had a positive impact on my team,” says Jefferson Black, who manages the company’s eight-member service desk. “Of course, the additional time helps everyone to feel more rested, but they’re also more able to handle life’s complications. When it feels like the whole world runs on banker’s hours, it’s a huge deal to have a day off during the week to take care of all the things that are impossible to do ‘after hours.’”

RainTech’s ethos - People, period - commits the company to putting humans at the center of every decision. By re-imagining the workweek, RainTech aims to:

  • Enhance well-being: Increasing personal time with a clear stake in RainTech’s success boosts mental health, financial security, and work-life balance.
  • Strengthen client outcomes: Engaged employee-owners are motivated to resolve issues quickly, innovate proactively, and safeguard partners' uptime.
  • Fuel inclusive growth: Broadly distributing equity enables every team member to share in RainTech’s value creation.
