PRINCETON, N.J.: Populus Health Technologies (Populus), a virtual care media and technology company, has partnered to create an in depth understanding of patients, HCPs and pharma marketers' views on virtual care: “Virtual Care in America: The Populus Report.”
The report will establish the benefits and opportunities facing three key stakeholders as the virtual healthcare environment continues to evolve. It will provide a clear-eyed, multi-perspective view of how virtual care is currently being experienced, practiced and marketed across the healthcare ecosystem, and is based on three surveys fielded individually to patients, practitioners and pharma media and marketing executives.
“From telehealth appointments to patient portal messaging, there are more digital pathways for patients to engage their healthcare providers than ever before. Virtual care has become a foundational part of how millions of Americans access healthcare and we want to provide a shared picture of how patients are experiencing it from all angles,” said Andrew Schulman, Vice President of Marketing at Populus. “The industry is moving fast; we aim to provide the definitive aperture to understand what better, convenient and timely access to care means for greater patient outcomes. That is the question driving everything Populus does, and it’s the question we set out to answer.”
All three surveys received feedback from over 1250 individuals and included questions on adoption rates and frequency of use; barriers to adoption; which conditions are appropriate for virtual care; technology integration challenges; regulatory concerns; current investment levels; and perceived barriers. With a late May release scheduled for the report, findings will be highlighted in a special editorial section in the June 2026 issue of PM360.
"With the patient adoption of virtual care accelerating in response to the pandemic, the result has been the emergence of new channels of patient engagement, targeted messaging at critical points of decision, and improved continuous engagement and tracking of medication adherence. “Virtual Care in America: The Populus Report” is the first of its kind to investigate how these trends concurrently impact patients, HCPs and pharma manufacturers," said Bob Beucler, Associate Publisher of PM360.
DHC Group, offering their pharma marketing expertise throughout the survey and go-to-market process, will be actioning the report with a new Virtual Care Playbook developed exclusively for pharma media and marketing executives.
"Physicians are the torchbearers of this virtual health care revolution, but they cannot lead in a vacuum,” said Mark Bard, co-founder of DHC Group. “By bridging the gap through market research with physicians, patients, and pharmaceutical companies, we can transform feedback into the blueprints for virtual care as a practical, safe, and a convenient approach to expand patient access to care and treatments of choice beyond the traditional in-person clinic setting."
Researchscape International conducted the surveys of patients and pharmaceutical executives and coordinated their analysis with that of the survey of HCPs.
