The new feature helps firms of all sizes save time by managing repeated same-plan rebalancing work in a shared, reviewable workflow while maintaining account-level control, permissions, and history.

NEW YORK: #401k--Pontera today announced Bulk Rebalancing, a new workflow that helps advisory firms and their authorized investment or trading teams streamline rebalancing across selected accounts within the same workplace retirement plan. Bulk Rebalancing, one of Pontera’s most-requested features, delivers a more centralized and scalable way to manage repeated work when multiple clients share the same workplace retirement plan.

Advisory firms increasingly want to manage a greater volume of accounts within workplace retirement plans as part of a holistic client strategy, but account-heavy plan workflows can be difficult to scale. When multiple clients share the same workplace retirement plan, their accounts draw from the same investment lineup, yet advisory teams may still have to perform similar portfolio rebalancing and order-management work, account by account, leading to hours of repetitive work.

“Advisory firms have been clear about the challenge: When many clients share the same workplace plan, repeating similar work account by account is time-consuming and difficult to scale,” said Dave Goldman, Chief Business Officer at Pontera. “Bulk Rebalancing streamlines that work, helping advisory teams get upwards of three hours per plan back while maintaining the review and control they need. By reducing manual work, firms can spend less time on administrative tasks and more time serving clients.”

When creating the portfolio for same-plan accounts, firms can define a target allocation using investments available in a specific workplace plan, map them to relevant end-client risk profiles where applicable, and assign eligible accounts.

When firms are ready to rebalance, Bulk Rebalancing lets authorized users select, review, and submit rebalances across multiple assigned accounts in a single workflow, while tracking order status and history.

“Scale only works when teams can remain in control of the workflow,” said Michal Bar, Director of Product Management at Pontera. “Bulk Rebalancing lets firms standardize portfolio management at the plan level while keeping account-level review and oversight. Teams can scale their operations without giving up control.”

Bulk Rebalancing includes five core capabilities designed to make same-plan rebalancing workflows more efficient and transparent:

  • Create a plan-specific portfolio: Define a target allocation using investments available in the workplace plan and associate it with the relevant end-client risk tolerance.
  • Assign eligible accounts: Add selected accounts within the same workplace plan to the appropriate portfolio, establishing their target allocation without creating orders. Only accounts the user is permitted to view and act on appear in the workflow.
  • Select accounts ready for rebalancing: Choose which assigned accounts to include rather than rebalancing every assigned account.
  • Review and submit selected orders together: Review proposed activity at the account level and determine which orders to submit together, with applicable validations performed before order creation.
  • Track portfolio rebalance history: View a record of attempted, submitted, and not-submitted orders, including submission details, status, and information about where follow-up may be needed.
