QUITO, Ecuador: Resecurity® (USA), a global cybersecurity company that protects Fortune 100 corporations and government agencies worldwide, and the National Cybercrime Unit of the Ecuadorian National Police (CiberPOL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a framework for technical cooperation to strengthen the prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of cybercrimes. The MOU was signed by Jorge Chungandro, Business Development Manager for Latin America at Resecurity, and Lieutenant Colonel Héctor Gonzalo García Cataña, Head of the National Cybercrime Unit (CiberPOL). The agreement applies specifically to cooperation between Resecurity and CiberPOL and does not extend to the Ecuadorian National Police as a whole.

The cooperation focuses on strengthening the operational capabilities of the CiberPOL through the exchange of cyber threat intelligence (CTI), specialized technical assistance, technological collaboration, and professional capacity building. Areas of cooperation include early warning systems, AI-based analytical capabilities, specialized training programs, technical workshops, seminars, practical exercises, and knowledge-sharing initiatives designed to strengthen the CiberPOL's investigative capabilities and support the ongoing professional development of its personnel, in accordance with applicable laws and institutional requirements.

“Effective cybercrime investigations depend on timely intelligence, trusted cooperation, and continuously evolving technical expertise,” said Jorge Chungandro, Business Development Manager for Latin America at Resecurity. “Through this Memorandum of Understanding, Resecurity is contributing its cyber threat intelligence expertise, specialized technologies, and practical knowledge that help strengthen investigative capabilities and support Ecuador's efforts to address increasingly sophisticated cybercrime.”

Cybercrime continues to pose increasing challenges for governments, companies and citizens throughout Latin America. By combining CiberPOL's investigative mandate with Resecurity's global expertise in cyber threat intelligence, the Memorandum of Understanding establishes a practical framework for responsible public-private cooperation that strengthens investigative capabilities, improves operational readiness, and supports Ecuador's efforts to combat cybercrime.
