BOSTON: Reframe Systems, the physical AI company industrializing home construction, today announced an additional $40 million in venture-backed equity financing to scale its microfactory network across North America and deliver more homes for customers.

The financing was led by Energy Impact Partners (EIP), with co-investments from Counterpart Ventures, E12 Ventures, Global Brain, Thin Line Capital, Up Partners and LACI Impact Fund. Reframe also had continued support from existing investors, including Eclipse, VoLo Earth, Cubit Capital, RA Capital Management (Planetary Health), MassMutual Catalyst and Nor’easter. The additional capital positions Reframe to accelerate home delivery in New England and deploy additional microfactory capacity across North America, bringing robotics-enabled homebuilding to the communities that need it most.

“Reframe stood out to us for applying a unique combination of Physical AI and manufacturing discipline to one of the largest and least productive sectors of the economy,” said Anil Achyuta, Partner at Energy Impact Partners. “What gives us conviction today is the compounding momentum we're seeing in the business. The company has moved beyond proving the technology to delivering scaled deployments, winning customers, and building repeatable execution. Reframe is helping create an era of housing abundance by making it possible to build more homes, more quickly, and more affordably. We believe that combination of mission and execution positions the company to become a category leader in housing production.”

America is short 4.5 million homes (source). The reason: most houses are still built by hand, through a fragmented chain of 25 or more subcontractors drawing on a shrinking pool of skilled trades. Homes have become too slow to build, too expensive to buy, and too scarce in the communities where people actually want to live.

Reframe addresses construction’s efficiency problems by building a network of small, highly automated microfactories near the communities where homes are needed. Unlike traditional modular builders that rely on large, centralized factories, Reframe’s microfactories can adapt production to different zoning requirements, climate conditions, and architectural styles. Software coordinates design with production, robotic systems automate repetitive fabrication tasks, and digital work instructions enable builders of all skill levels to assemble components, helping deliver homes 3x faster and at 35% lower cost than traditional construction.

“The housing shortage is an abstraction until you're the person who can't find a home in the community you want to live in,” said Vikas Enti, CEO and co-founder of Reframe Systems. “Developers are demanding faster, energy-efficient, climate-resilient homes and we are answering that demand. With our technology, we’re able to deliver infill housing, such as a triple-decker in Somerville, in 180 days and help families in Altadena rebuild wildfire-resilient bungalows in months instead of years. With our model, every home we deliver makes the next one faster and cheaper to build, because our software, robotics and network learn from each deployment. That demand is why we're expanding, and why we're now targeting one million homes by 2040, five years ahead of schedule.”

Reindustrializing America with a Dual-Use Microfactory Network

Reframe is expanding its production capacity with FAB1, a new microfactory located in Billerica, Massachusetts. The company will begin operations at FAB1 on October 5, achieving full factory readiness in under 70 days from receiving the keys and demonstrating how quickly the company can bring new production capacity online. With less than $5 million in equipment, FAB1 is designed to produce up to 500 multifamily units or 250 single-family homes annually.

Reframe has completed 10 homes, from ADUs to triple-decker apartments. Eight are already occupied, and the company expects to deliver 114 more units over the next year. At Adams Circle in Devens, Massachusetts, Reframe is finishing 12 units for delivery, with a five-story apartment building in Roxbury and a development in Thornton, New Hampshire next in the factory pipeline to build. In Altadena, California, Reframe is completing a wildfire-resilient bungalow and an ADU to help a family rebuild after the fires.

"After the fires, we were being told that a traditional construction rebuild could take years and could cost far more than we could afford. Reframe streamlined the process, secured the permits, coordinated with a contractor, and is completing our new wildfire-resilient home in months at a cost that worked for our family," said Jonathan Talbot and Marisol Talbot, homeowners of the Altadena bungalow. “That difference in timeline, cost, and security allowed us to move forward with confidence."

Building Towards One Million Homes

Reframe Systems is on a mission to unlock homes for everyone, with a goal of building one million homes worldwide by 2040. The company was founded by former Amazon Robotics leaders Vikas Enti, Felipe Polido, and Aaron Small, who helped scale some of the most advanced automation systems in the world and deploy more than 500,000 robots across Amazon’s global fulfillment network. The team is now applying those same principles of software-orchestrated automation to homebuilding, one of the largest industries still reliant on fragmented, manual processes.
